Hi all, i have just became the proud owner of a Sigma 70mm macro lens and was wondering if there is any way of getting in close but without having the lens in what ever im shooting at's face.

This may sound strange and some will say i should have maybe got the 150mm/180mm but dont have this kind of money.

Also anybody out there that can tell me from personal experience
if the lens is a good'en. Again may sound strange as i have already bought it but i done this from online reviews.

Thanks.

1.4x converter?
I think it should fit anyway.

Would extension tubes help here i was just reading there about them.

I have seem them on ebay just cheap ones mind would they do the job.

Extension tubes will just let you focus when the lens is closer to the object you are shooting, whereas the 1.4 will make the object fill the lens more from further away.

The simple answer is no. A 1.4x T/C will allow you to get 40% further away for the same framed shot but that's about it.

Macro lenses come in a variety of focal lengths with benefits and drawbacks for each. Most people who only want one lens would go for the middle ground in the 90-105mm region.
