windows validation
Been doing some research into that splash screen popup about windows not not being genuine.

Looks as if microsoft are doing a sweep to find illegal copies and the popup asks for your windows 7 product number.

They splash it up for 30 days and then start blanking out the screen for a period of time.

yep always been there.
maybe your version of w7 came from a hooky copy or number.

move up to W10

Can't find any official info on them doing any sort of sweep now. More likely something happened to your system to trigger a reactivation.

Don't see why they'd bother, a) they've never been bothered before, b) 7 is going end of life.

Agree with Neil MS the reactivate thing has been around for years reckon it's time to move on W7 is dead

Sounds like malware.

Are you running an Enterprise Pro version?

I still have a netbook running XP, for very specific jobs that I lust can't get 7/10 to do.

At work I deal with equipment still running OS/2 though most of that is being slowly upgraded to XP.

I'd rather have 7 than 10, 10 is good but it's a huge spyware fest from MS.

o i agree there are devices out there running embedded versions of win95.
the point though is if the devices are exposed to the internet email or lan/wan no patches are available for them and they risk all sorts of malice like the recent wannacry

shows mine has been activated and has logo, so must be a scam.( edited out some information for security reasons ) and I also have the disc I bought legitimately
