Not sure if this is the right section for this but i just thought i would give you a heads up on it, from the 31st March Microsoft will be stopping the student and parent discount on all of there software, so if anyone is doing any sort of course or have children who are now is the time to buy, there are considerable discounts to be had on the likes of Microsoft word 2010, and Windows 7 upgrades plus a few anti virus packages, a couple of links HERE and HERE :)

All this will do is encourage piracy.

Their loss.

its thought to have a replacement scheme coming out though. no official announcements from MS that I can find, only scarmoungering software vendor pages.. ("oh buy more software now!!!")

not surprised though, it gets completely abused like all student discounts.

How does it get abused?

Am i missing out on a money making scheme here :D

The only piece of software that ever crashes on my Mac is Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular, less so PowerPoint); thank god I'm no longer a student and having to deal with that software package on a daily basis!

More like trying to drive a Bentley with Land Rover parts :naughty:

use a pc instead (propper computer), it should not crash

I don't know why anyone would pay even 99p for M$ Office when OpenOffice is genuinely free and to my mind better.

Which version are you running? I'm on 2011 so maybe the issues were with 2008 and before?

My copy is 2008 and it's been problematic since the day I installed it. Not to mention that the language constantly reverts to English(US) despite trying every trick I could find to permanently save my changes.

Even the windows version has been tricky with language settings int the past :)

Yeah I stumbled across lots of Windows 'fixes' whilst I was searching for a solution. Seeing all those wiggly red lines telling me I'm wrong really wound me up for 3 years
