Hi all,

Thinking about getting the Surface pro6 https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/compu...e-pro-6-128-gb-ssd-platinum-10186475-pdt.html

I have looked over the internet and can't find a straight answer, can the surface tablets run the full version of photoshop, lightroom and so forth? If so are they any good? Better or worse than a laptop?

I placed this in here rather than equipment as I want to know more about the software rather than the equipment.

Really like the surface pro although mine is an earlier version.....only issue I had was the icon size in photoshop...something to do with upscaling I think? However the version was CS 6 and I would imagine that if you are on the subscription version you shouldn’t have any issues.....

I use a pro 4 running the subscription versions of Adobe's software. Everything runs fine but as to whether better or worse than a laptop would depend entirely on what laptop you compared. I'd advise the use of an external monitor for anything other than very quick editing though, the screen is not the biggest.

Surface pros run the normal windows 10 OS just like any other laptop or desktop so the software is no different.

:agree:
this. I too use an SP4.
the biggest issue I have is running out of storage space. It’s a fab machine for lightweight LR and PS work, but eventually all the files need moving to a larger drive.

I have what is meant to be a pretty hardcore gaming laptop. Basically good for the bin. Was hoping that the surface would be a nice option to do client meetings with and editing on the fly as I have a powerful workstation at home. I've been looking into it and watching videos etc and just discovered that the keyboard is separate and the pen/mouse are stupid money making the final price around £1k. Happy to spend the money but £1k for a tablet... nah!

The Surface is basically a full laptop PC in a tablet form factor, without the keyboard and trackpad included. As such it will run the full Adobe suite just fine. What about an iPad if you have a full desktop PC at home? I haven't edited on my laptop once since I got an iPad Pro a couple of months ago

I have thought about Apple but I own no apple products and other things I would do on it don't work on iPads or Android tablets.
