Yes, there is an option - In all versions of Word AFAIK.

Not unless the autorecover option is set. I believe it is set as default on installation, but could have been disabled in the OP's case.

just found it after the second post but yet it did not openm y previous work only the work before that not sure why it is missing

If you click the Office button, down at the bottom is Word Options, select then click on Save and select your Autosave time.

I think it is normally 10 mins but even I can do a bit of typing in that time, so suggest setting it to a couple of minutes, rather than half an hour.

Autorecovery will probably be saved in Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\
