Microsoft have released a Camera codec pack so you can view all your raw files on picture viewer etc. Now you can view raw files without specific software. The only requirement is that you have Win 7 or Vista.

It works OK for NEFs on my W7 64bit

i also cant get the codec pack to open Sony AWR file on windows 7- 64bit.

Not as good as they rate it, thats what it looks like to me..

It only appears to work with older cameras.

The cameras supported are listed on the MS site, mine are not listed.

Yep tried the 64 bit version, failed based on supposed permissions issues. As I am the only one that uses the PC and I have full admin rights I gave up.

I've installed FastStone Image Viewer on a PC at work & it allows me to view NEFs from my D700. Free for home users (www.faststone.org) & it might be of use to someone here.
