Starting to do a little video for the recycling project I run. Did some tests with Pixel 8 pro and Pixel 5 yesterday edited on CapCut. Everything is great except the sound. Not only do we have to frame the shot so we're close enough to the speaker to hear them but there are lots of background and wind noises.

I want something small and unobtrusive for talking head shots in the street.

Searches are suggesting 2 options:

1. Magnetic wireless lavalier mikes. These seem a good option but involve an element of setup "can I ask you a few questions for a ide?....Great, let me just mike you up...."
2. Shotgun mike with windscreen. Again would probably work but to fasten them to a phone seems to need a cold shoe which requires a cage which requires.....

What decent options do I have for under £50?

For the budget, about the best I can think of is a cheap lav mic, an extension lead and some sort of boom arm, a monopod or lighting stand extension maybe and hold it overhead.
The second option is a cheap normal mike and a cheap phone holder with cold shoe to put it on.
Theres cheap wireless mics that can be just clipped on, some very cheap on flebay, no idea what the quality is like. These can be clipped on in a second and are mostly small and many can be used with a lav mic as an option like the better quality ones that are outside your budget.
Not having tried the cheaper ones I cant say how much difference there will be between the expensive and budget set-ups. These days I suspect not much. Theres some good cheap lav mics about that I do know.

Thanks both. 28 quid for an A1 set (2X TX, 1 X RX) was too tempting to miss.

Testing around the house and they are so far excellent. I'll take them out for a spin this week.

As far as existing recordings go I'm told this podcast tool from Adobe is quite the thing.

I just noticed the age of this post!
Thanks, I'll take a look. Though I'll admit I'm no longer any sort of fan of Adobe :)

But the Hollyland A1 is working extremely well for me.
