Yes
Ive owned a Panasonic LX100 and as much as i loved the quality, and compactness, I wanted something i could add lenses to, so i sold the Panny and bought an Olympus E-PL8.
I loved it, and added a super wide 7.5mm Fisheye lens. I was really enjoying it, until the camera broke on me, so im claiming on my insurance.
I would like to replace it either with the same model, maybe a newer E-PL9 or 10, or something equivalent.
Im not up on my M4/3 cameras so looking for advice on similar cameras to the Oly 8. Panasonic, Fuji etc.
I will hopefully have approx £350 to spend and will look at buying used, not new.
Thanks for any advice.

You could consider the EM10 MkII which is larger but not hugely so than the E-PL8. A bit more versatile.

Size comparison

Otherwise, any of the E-PL series should come in under budget I think and the E-P7 a bit over budget (but with the 20mp sensor)

I like the RF style ones with the evf in the corner but sadly I think they'll all discontinued now. If you are looking at used maybe one of these is an option?

I have GM5, GX80 and GX9. I can't really see any difference in image quality between the GX80 and the GX9 but I suppose that means that the extra mp's of the GX9 don't come at any expense to IQ. I prefer the GX80 despite the loss of some manual controls and the tilting evf due to its better evf compared to the GX9.

I can't see myself buying a camera without a vf.

? Surely breakdowns aren't covered by insurance? Unless you mean warranty.
Sorry, badly worded. Broke down due to a an Accidental knock . Insurance claim yes.

If you can get one with the 20mp sensor it will be worthwhile. I find a significant improvement using the 20mp sensor compared to the 16mp sensor, especially when cropping.

I got my GX9 within your budget, but a see prices are at a peak of the wave at the moment. A few months ago you could get a G9 for £400 (not small, just for comparison)

If you go for either Panasonic or Olympus, it is well worth trying the other, they are quite similar in specs, but very different to use and menu structure, Panasonic suits me, and I find Olympus awkward, other people will feel the other way round :)

Yeah I always struggled with the LX100 and felt it was too far departed from a DSLR, control wise.. I did get some amazing shots with it though. I liked the EPL8. It felt more intuitive.
I now really like the EP7 and although pricey, I might stretch to it. I’ve spoken with loss adjusters this morning and they will send my camera away for diagnosis first, so I’ll see what comes back from that.

Insurance company (Eversure) have informed me that they will collect the camera this week to send for repair. If not repaired then they will replace with a like for like model. Hopefully the shutter count will be factored in if it is replaced as you can’t buy them new any more .

What actually happened to the camera .as your initial post is rather vague . Was it electrical failure or an accident ? Saying it broke on you could mean anything

The camera got knocked when I got bumped into and the internal SD Card slot has broken

So the insurance has settled for a replacement camera valued second hand at MPB for £309. I have a £100xs which means I come out with £209 cash payment.
I purchased my camera for £250 off market place and can’t really replace it for £209. Bit gutted.

Don't forget to tell your motor insurers about the claim next renewal too...
