mickyluv,s 52 "Chemical & Candid " added

HI Mick, ouch- that looks painfull, A good idea, I think i would have liked to see a bit of blur to emphasise the speed, but thats just my humble opinion.
I've got 4 pieces left Martin I,ll have another go just for you....Mick;)

Hi Mick, just had a look through your thread and I can definitely see a sense of humour running through there.

Street isn the best of the bunch by far. Well thought out and lots of effort into taking the shot as well as PP.

I also think speed is good too. Another difficult shot to take, yet you pushed yourself to do it. Well done!

Ian.

Loving your work so far Mickyluv (great name too by the way - i'm a LofG fan too) My fave's are the crap and the multiple exposure trickery - well done can't wait to see more :-)

Your Street shot is absolutely fantastic! You have a lovely selection of poses and placings and it all looks absolutely convincing - it must have taken you ages.:clap:

Speed has come off well, too - it would also have done for chopped. It looks a bit painful, so I'm glad you only had to do it three times.

That's a cracking speed shot, third time lucky. Nice to see the hand sharp but with plenty of energy in the wood.

Well timed and exposed shot ..... Will refrain from suggesting that you try it again with your forehead .... :bang:

Getting to be a good series of shots building up here Mick,... Well done.

Dave ....

Well here's my effort at "Present". I've really struggled to come up with something origonal, I just know when I look at other posts it'll be classed as total pants. Hope this weeks gives me a little more inspiration and hopefully I'll get a bit more time to spend on it. Any way I can now start posting comments on others

Nice shapes and colours and textures in this Mick. What is it though? ;)

My wife says to tell you its a love token.Don't you know nowt!:)...Mick
And you've now got me in bother thanks, she just ask me when she bought it for me

Tell her I'm not to know, noone's ever given me one :'(

Ah, it's not that pants! I don't think it's too bad at all :). For a theme like present your going to get a mixed bag of good and bad. Found it quite difficult myself too.

hello,

Just stumbled upon your 52..............

Am liking it.....so far.

Street made me crack up - a very unique take on the theme and it works well - must have taken a while for all the costume changes............

Chopped - different. In a kind of way I like it - more for the humourous side (going to sit back now and wait for the onslaught of veggies....... "animals died for that" comments!)

Like the curves but what IS the point of a pipe that pops up, bends and goes back down?

Great so far, going to have to add this to my "watched threads" as I can imagine some weird stuff coming up here by xmas!!!

Speed: That is a cracking shot (sorry!!!) Seriously, to catch the action blur must have been very difficult - I like this one lots.

Present: Well, having Present within Valentine's week was bound to lead us down similar paths (and I would have done something similar normally :)) So, it's definitely not pants -the colours and textures work well - and you can't find a unique, stunning subject for 52 weeks on the trot. :)

Jean

Hi Mick,

After reading the title I thought we were going to get a pic of a pair of pants . . . so this is already a million times better than what I was expecting

In fact it's really not bad at all. Nice colours, good composition and interesting subject - sorry, I didn't know what it was either.
I think you could have maybe done something more oomphy with the lighting to give it a bit more of a lift, I'm just not quite sure what.

Speed - absolutely brilliant shot. It would have made a great entry for chopped too.
Please don't do it again with the other 4 pieces though . . . seeing people do this always makes me cringe. It just screams broken knuckles at me

Thanks to all for taking the time to look and comment,I feel I've de-railed a bit this week so I'm going to have to put my head in gear for "People". Some themes seem to have a good vibe about them and others no inspiration, I think people is another toughie without doing the obvious....Mick:bang:

I don't think it's that bad Mick. It's just a bit "clinical" and would make a good product shot if you lifted the contrast a bit.

Pants is a bad word. You've set a fairly high standard of yourself with your other images. Bound to be a week where things don't work out.

Ian.

Mick, sorry, missed so many....

Chopped... that's very different... in fact bordering on the unique ;)... well done well outside the box...

Street... Great idea, well implemented. There's been a few of this type of thing, but the costume changes here really make it.

Speed... OW!!!... I'm sure done in the right way, it minimises the pain.. but oh man... Anyway... I think there's plenty of speed showing there... despite the static look of the shoot from the high shutter speed... all the splinters flying away...

Present... I like it. it's nicely composed and lit and the colours are good, and you should know by now to keep a note of these things (like when it was given to you) or it's gonna come back and bite ;)..

You're much too hard on yourself - it is a respectable shot. I think that if you just cropped in a bit closer closer, lightened the background a little and upped the contrast it would give it a bit more oomph.

We are all going to struggle with some themes, but remember it is a good learning experience. You have achieved lovely soft lighting here, with just the right amount of shadow.

Hi Mick,

Just to let you know, the "People doing a 52 list" here is linking your 52 off somewhere strange...

Ian.

Very nice indeed Micky, "Present", its not about the photo, its all about the love

Not entirely sure what the 'present' shot is... but if it means something to you, then that's what matters :D

Now show us yer people shot!

I have just enjoyed looking at your thread. Well done on all of your themes.

Right I'm going to have to play catch up pretty quick. Had a play with some lights I've had a while but not really got into them much, boy its hard. Any way heres some stocky legs of some "people", namely wife, lad and me. He's 15 and got fed up pretty quick, said " I was weird"

I've tried to reduce the red cast some have noticed, is this any better

Really made me smile this one, and I did wonder if you'd dropped...

If your intention was to blow the background with the lights, it worked. It's a nice clean image and quite artistically done (for what I know about art anyway...)

The key thing for me is that you got your family to all stand in a line while you pointed a camera at their naked feet. Awesome.

He's 15 and got fed up pretty quick, said " I was weird"

I think he might just have a point. Cheers for making me smile today. I needed it.

Ian.

Glad it made you smile Ian, I have to be honest though there was a lot of dodging done on the back ground.I'm gonna leave them set up and try some portraits tomorrow night....Mick

You are definitely weird. but this is definitely one of the more unique subjects for the theme. I think it's amazing you got the poses so similar. Skin tones are a little red but overall I'm liking this very much. Made me chuckle as well :)

I wouldn't worry Mick, all 15 year olds think their parents are weird . . . although I'm not sure how many parents make their 15 year olds pose bare-footed with the rest of the family . . . maybe you are weird :cuckoo:

I really like this. Made me smile and a very unique take on the theme. The white background has worked well and I love the way that you've got all the poses aligned. Agree with Darren on the skin tones though - a bit too pinky / red on my monitor too.

Hi Mick, I like the present shot. Something personal to you and it's a simple but effective shot.

People......Bloody hell, I'm glad you said it was you lad and your better half :D. I'd was hoping you weren't volunteering your photographic skills to the local naturist club:nuts:

Appreciate your feedback Sarah

Cheers Scott, not much call for naturist photo's at -5c

I like that idea Mick, it's an intersting take on the theme. The composition and white BG work well I think. The comment from your son made me smile :D

Yep... I'd go with weird ... As for leaving them setup... how on earth did you persuade a 15 year old to stay like that for days

Sorry... couldn't resist... A very different take, fun, and arty too. It works... The blown background on the first is better, perhaps try a colour balance, or reduce the red channel in curves or something similar.

Right then, this is going to be fun:lol: I know how everyone is in awe of selective colouring. So bring it on. Two points. 1. I,m behind due to work picking up and being self employed you have to take it all when its there.2 I,ve had to throw a joker in, I took this 18 mths ago and at the time I didn,t know sel/col was naf.Just had a little play with the PP this morning.

Mick, you have managed to bring a smile to my face again:lol:

People is a really nice take on the theme and the mechanical shot works well with the selective colouring. Good stuff!

Cheers, Rob

I like that Mick... it might be an old one, but it's good.

A lot to like in that mechanical one Mick - even if it is an old shot.
Stunning sky and a good mono conversion. I'd like just a bit more contrast in the foreground though.

Now onto the selective colouring . . . no need to run
If you like it don't let anyone else tell you that it's naff - in fact in some shots it can actually work well IMO.

For this one I'm in two minds though.
I like it on the boat - mainly because the colours are muted and it makes it stand out while still being quite subtle.
The yellow on the tractor is too jarring against the B&W for my tastes though, but I guess you couldn't do one part without the other
Perhaps if you could desaturate that yellow right down it might work better for me.

Brilliant People shot...I wouldn't worry about your son thinking your wierd all my kids KNOW I am :D

I like your mechanical one too....I think I agree with Sarah that it might look better with the yellow toned down a little. Selective colour CAN be naff but it can also be highly effective...everybody has different tastes and just because some people don't like a particular effect doesn't mean it's wrong or cheesey.
