No
Yes - forearm smash .......... usually after the bell had sounded.

As a kid the Saturday wrestling on the TV, with the great commentary by Kent Walton, was and essential part of the weekend.

Dave

I was somewhat surprised at the news

I thought he died years ago. 93!!! Good on him!

Well remember watching him when wrestling was very popular and nothing like WWE/WWF

RIP Mick

Didn't realise he was that old, means he was wrestling professionally when he was well into his 50s!

I could not believe his age, too. Irrespective of the fakery that went on it was great entertainment. Remember:-
Jackie Palo (and his wife Trixie who came along at times)
Les Kellet pretending to be semi comatose.
Masambula with the deadly headbutts.
Kendo Nagasaki who frequently almost got unmasked.

Saturday afternoons in front of the tele, watching the wrestling with
my dear old dad
There certainly were some characters on there ;)
And of course the Royal bros. tag team, giant haystacks and
Pat Roach, who went on to an acting career in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet,
and a few others :)
Those were the days :D
Thanks for the "memories" Mick RIP:thumbs:

Giant Haystacks was a local celeb, I used to deliver his mail. I could never get used to seeing his grundy's on the washing line, they were like sails.
Met Mick McManus a couple of times, used to knock about with his niece and ran her home on my AJS, got quite a shock when he looked at me with narrowed eyes. But she put him at ease when she told him I was JUST taking her home!

Indeed, RIP Mick.

Kendo Nagasaki !!! A real character! Like all of them.

All great memories of a time with little TV channel choice too!

RIP Mick, many a Saturday afternoon happily wasted watching him demolish his opponents :)

Ah the good old days of wrestling

RIP mick

A good innings for sure, I always enjoyed the tag matches as well. As many have said it was good Saturday afternoon entertainment. In saying that Grandstand and World of Sport were good, the biggest mistake they ever made dropping those two progs, you had such a variety. Now all we have is football shoved in our faces at every given opportunity :cuckoo::cuckoo:

R.I.P Mick

That name would probably seen, by some, as not politically correct today. Does not bother me at all.

He has a website:-

For me UK style wrestling went to the wall after the Sunday papers expose about taking broken razor blades into the ring with them.
