Hi all

Now Im planning on getting a bluebell forest shot this year as Ive wanted to get a good one for a while so ive got some time off work. Now if your from this area or been there to shoot them is April 14th onwards to early to go??

Your views and tips will be grateful.

Hi. Sorry I have no idea of when they are out, but I have had great difficulty in the past with these flowers, they look stunning by eye but the photos are all the wrong colour. Did read an article on it once but my old brain forgets the advice. I think it's all about filtering.
Perhaps some bright spark will put us right.

 Thanks, I have shot bluebells before and never really had any major problems with the colours.:thumbs:

Would have thought mid April was too early but it probably depends on the location and the season. Can be up until early june round here.

So Has any one on the forum been to Micheldever wood then for the bluebells????

No, but I know a place in Fair Oak near Southampton. This was last year:

Hi,

I've been to Micheldever numerous times, but actually never for the bluebells! However, I go every year to Winkworth Aboretum (Godalming) which is not so far away (1 hr drive) which also has amazing bluebell carpets, and I've just looked at my photo dates for the last few years - I'd say last week of April, and 1st week of May is a good bet for the bluebells.

I plan on going to Micheldever this year though.

Hope this helps.

I've been to Micheldever when the Bluebells were out, I didn't have my camera though. Well worth the trip :)

Cheers, yeah seen some shots and it looks really nice there.Im really want to get a great bluebell shot this year its been on my list for a couple of years now.

so any one have any blue bell shots from Micheldever woods ?????

Regarding timing - I would say that early dawn or late dusk to be the ideals. That's when the faerie stories are written.

No, but count me in for a visit when you feel like going ...

Might be a good idea if you want to turn this into a meet.

Sorry Im very much happy going on my own thanks  I like the area as free of other togs when im about as some get in the way of compositions etc.... Not that im against going on meets. Just sooner do most of my work on my own. But thanks anyway.:thumbs:

hiya, I was there today for several hours taking pictures of the bluebells. As well as the lovely wood on the right as you go along Northington Lane which are perfect as there's a slight incline, there are loads of them in the woods near the main car park. We took bikes so we could get to all the various places. Have fun :) I need to go back to get more shots as didn't use any filters today and some of the shots are not as good as I hoped.

I see in your profile you say you yearn for a canon, do you mind me asking why. I've got the original Canon EOS 300d SLR and now that I've started to use it in earnest can't decide whether to invest in a few canon lens, then upgrade the body later or switch to a Nikon, which I see you already have. Choices, choices.

Joan
