This is me being incredibly lazy as I only live 12 miles from the place, but has anyone been to Micheldever for the Bluebells this year and if so what are they like/are they much cop? Is the wood on the right before the M3 Bridge (West of the wood next to the Northbound services) still the best place to go?

Cheers

I was there very very early Saturday morning but in the wood on the road to Winchester on the left.

It is not the best I have ever seen it to be honest, they are not so dense this year.

stopped off in the same wood as @jhav on the way back from my FiL's Monday evening. As he says not the best they've ever been

Yep I have been down and there is OK ish I'm also 12miles from Micheldever! ... Stupidly I went down on the Monday of the last bank holiday. It was Rammed I have never ever seen it so packed, the main FC carpark was full and all down each side of the road, fore and aft of the carpark and under the motorway bridge on the hard standings there. I drove on, and went last Wednesday evening instead. Itchen wood (on the Right before the motorway bridge) is OK, one side open to fields west facing so good for sunsets, not as prolific as a few years ago IMHO. The main Mitcheldever wood, I actually thought was better than last year, if you go to the end of the main track near the M3. If you go under the subway near the end of the track (Where the track turns right parallel with M3) and come out the other A33 side the wood there is pretty well populated. Obviously you can access this part of the wood by driving down the A33 toward Winchester and stopping on the side of the road before you get to the Mitcheldever wood turning on the left.
The Beech trees are starting to push out the new fresh green leaves now which looks very nice against the Bluebells
Cheers S
