Michael23's 52! Revised Slide Show Added

Hi, Michael, #2 for me. Crisp, clean, great exposure, like the composition and it has a hieroglyphic feel to it.

Cheers.

Hi Andy, I am really pleased with number 2, it worked out well.

Hiya Michael,

I'm a bit behind at the moment, both with posting for the themes and commenting, so thought I would try a bit of catching up tonight.

I love the 'blur' photo .... the way the effect creates a sense of motion.

With 'time', I'm not sure about #1 , it took me a while to register the connection with #2 .... guess because it is so late at night and I'm tired. Like the idea for night time with the stars, although I think a nice star trail may have worked quite well for this too, i.e., the time it takes to capture the trails and the time of day one take them.

I like your thinking outside of the box .... or should that be bag  for mix with the 'mixed bags' :D and I think you have done well with the composition.

The badges shot is very clear too.

Well done!

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hiya Dawn, thanks for popping by, the bags were a bit of a nightmare, white balance was an issue, I ended up using a custom wb and then using that, it looked great on my camera, but somehow it did not look right in processing. So I decided to go down the the toning route, I think it quite suits the bags as well. I may reshoot this if I can find a better background. But quite pleased with it for now.

michael... i like both of your mixes...some would do that three seperate photos thingie..trippie-whatsit... but you include them in the same..and descending sizes..decent product shot..mmm... ok..

#2... simple..and bold...best out of the two... great shot....though... underlined...though. some might say its not a photo... more an image...looks too drawn..words from the cautious...

Morning Kev. Thanks for your comment. Pleased you like the pics. The triptych never really entered my mind for the bags, I found the one decent spot I could arrange and picked these 3 bags up, One thing I must do really is sort some material out for a better background! The badges are my fave out of the 2:thumbs:

I have some moon shots here if anyone fancies a look :)

OK, been a tough week, so I have not had chance to shoot anything new for the subject, so decided to revisit some photos from the school holiday. Which for me represent fun in 2 different ways.

Week 38 Fun!, Fun Ferrret!! by scilly puffin, on Flickr

We had a lot of fun watching this critter running around and hiding under a womans dress whilst watching a display at Sherwood Forest! What a cutie!

Now, for my daughter having fun on the slide

Cheers for the comment Joe. The Ferret had all the people laughing and took me a good 5 minutes to get this picture. I did think of doing a gif file of the 4 pictures moving but it wouldnt load up to flickr

Right I think I have sorted stuff out now. It was all down to flickr no longer hosting gif files. So had to resort to photobucket for this one.

Fancied doing something a little different

anigif.gif

This was made up of 31 still frames, which took me a while to get. I ended up taking around 80 pictures in all to get this right. Only had a very limited time with the volume display, each exposure was 0.6 seconds I believe. A little bid of editing done, some cloning to get rid of reflections, deepened the colours and a contrast boost.

And another version with the same images combined, minus a couple as I did not have a frame template with enough spaces.

Week 39, Volume 2 by scilly puffin, on Flickr

I saw these on flickr and didn't think much of them for the week, but the gif idea works well.
However, I realise the pictures were taken with a camera, but for me if you cannot get the picture printed it isn't photography.

Still a nice idea though.
The movement is an issue though.

When I did the gif I was thinking when I completed the gif I should be doing a still image, so I included the 2nd one. I'm really annoyed about not noticing the movement. Thanks for your thoughts.

...young neil... you're doing it again... glad you noticed the camera being used...didnt see you stopping Mr Andy from doing his time lapse, and your AHEM... 70's catalogue poses...

The movement is an issue though.

...mmmm..have to agree.. but @michael..you've taken this point already...

I like time lapse and it's results, especially of growing plants etc., but I don't think it's photography, it's more cinematography.

As for those poses, they were from the 80's and have taken years of practice to perfect them. Kays said they wouldn't employ me as it wasn't fair on the other models! Next were that impressed they were speechless and couldn't respond to my email!

you weren't supposed to keep wearing the clothes though neil...

no neil..thats what they were calling... for the NEXT person...

i'm going to get shot one day for my cheek.... but til that day .... :naughty:

Right been out today to Chatsworth and after having "one of those" weeks last week, it was nice to be out in the fresh air and take a few pics. I have decided to include these 2 images in with my 52 project to go along with the volume theme, 2 different interpretations, and maybe marmite pics, but I am quite pleased with them, even if I do say so myself! :D

I like your take on volume and the Chatsworth shot is my preference; I don't like the treatment in the second.

i'm standing with Tina on the second Michael. The PP is doing my eyes in.

The water cascading is a good capture though.

Hi Michael

Sorry its taken me so long to catch up with your 52. I'm going to try and catch up a bit with everyones this week. Im finding the time needed harder and harder just to do my own pics as well as comment on others.

Fun... Like others I find your second pic a little static... and a bigger smile may have helped! However at least you have some models to use in your pics... there is only so many self portraits I can do in my 52! Also it brighten the image up a little and saturate the colours maybe... but maybe not. My laptop screen is pretty rubbish right enough!

Volume... I like your gif idea! Much more than the other two... and just because it cant be printed out does not make it not photography as Neil says. WHat I cant understand is how the images are slightly left right up down. Surely you had the camera on a tripod and the sterio was not moving? Or am I missing something?

I much prefer your first shot to the other two... which im not actually much keen on at all. I think I prefer the car one rather than the water one... but it says clutter to me... not volume!

Anyway... got a few others to catch up with too... great work!

Mark

Hiya MArk manu thanks for popping by. Don't worry about not commenting for a while, we all have times when everything seems to much. I have just gone back and had a look at my fun picture. I didn't boost the saturation as it made her face very red and didn't look natural at all, I will consider a slower shutter speed next time to introduce a bit of movment.

As for volume, I did have the camera on a tripod and set to 10 sec delay, but I have a dodgy shutter button and I was having to do many finger presses to get it to work, so that will be where the movement has come from. The water was quite tricky to get right, I took quite a few pics and binned most of them, the light was quite flat so I wasn't able to get what I wanted. So I plumped with this and played around in pp. I see your point about the cars, clutter is quite apt! I did find a rather nice motorbike with a posh exhaust, but far too many people in the way to get the shot I wanted!

Once again a big thanks to everyone visting my project. It is all very much appreciated. Here are a few from my day at chatsowrth if you fancy taking a look.

Hiya Lynne thanks fir popping by. The light on the water was not great and as I was processing the pic I noticed the colour did not do it any favours so went with the conversion.

Off on my holidays for a fortnight at the weekend. So unless I get enough time tomorrow to get something done for explode I will have to catch up when I get back. I shall be checking in on my phone to see how you are all doing. Will catch up when I can!

The movement is an issue though.

My imediate reaction was to agree with Neil, and I had a quick Google...wow, it was like World war Three....

The term 'fixed' springs to my mind when I think about photography.

I do like it though.

Your other 2 volumes fit the theme, but I'd like to see them in colour for comparison.

Right, just got back from Spain, Jackie's shopping and I'm supposed to ne doing the washing so I'd better catch up later...:bat:

Cheers.

Here we go, the colour versions for your comments

DPP_0074 by scilly puffin, on Flickr

Been tidying all day and Caitlin been ill, so not got my explode shot done yet.

Hi, there. I much prefer the colour versions and of the two the cars have it for me. I'd prefer a slight crop at the bottom to emphasise the volume of cars, but appreciate this causes issue with chopping the women and kid in half.

Cheers...

michael..seeing the colour versions. i admit i prefer the cars.. i think the PP was too much before..

Right, I wanted to get this done before my holiday and managed to find 1 balloon in the house! So only one shot was going to count!

Balloon was inflated and then filled with some water and pegged onto a washing line. A pin taped to a pole and I had my camera set to jpeg for maximum fps! This was the only shot out of the balloon exploding. A little bit of pp done, I had to crop out the pole.

Week 40, Explode! by scilly puffin, on Flickr

For 1 chance I am very pleased with the end result. It certainly can be improved up on, and I will most probably be redoing this technique when I have more balloons and time available!

Oh and speaking of eplode :D

One balloon....no pressure then...:gag:

I did some myself with naff results...:shake:

Looks much better via Flickr. It just about says explode to me. What I mean, is if you'd had more balloons and maybe some of camera flash, with a black background it may have worked much better. Looks like you were at the limits of your shutter speed??

Did the frame before show a full balloon? I've seen them done on Youtube and they had all the equipment to get a kick butt shot, so you did well. Some of them photographed at 1000 fps!

I quite like the composition as well, but not the blue from the balloon.

Have a great holiday....

Hiya Michael,

Sorry I have not been here to comment for a while .... things have been hectic, so I'm here now to do a quick catch up.

Fun: Great shot of your daughter on the slide .... looks like she is having fun. The ferret shot has great detail ... well caught.

Volume: Wow that is a great shot and I like how you have it moving, something I must read up on how to do.

Out of the additional volume shots ... I have to say I prefer the water one .... I can almost here the volume of water cascading. The car shot doesn't really do much for me, sorry.

Explode: Wow that is a good shot and well done for getting it on the first chance. Bang on theme

Hope you have a fantastic holiday.

Cheers

Dawn :)
