weekly Michael23's 2012 52 COMPLETED! WooHoo! Slide show added

Have to agree with everyone else nice exposure overall which must have been difficult with the bright sun good explanation too

Hi Michael, flow is a simple take on the theme but one that works well nonetheless. I like the natural framing of the image by use of the bridge arch.

Beyond whats already been mentioned, nothing more to add. Good work  Iain

Well, what a week  No inspiration, had ideas but just couldn't seem to translate them into pictures! In fact, I don't even think I have picked my camera up this week! Trying to get everything straight and in order before holiday next week, I reckon I have worn myself out! After an idea put forward by Matt (mwhcvt) I have a picture of my daughter and her favoruite teddy bear, or should that be doggy  They certainly are the best of friends, she managed to pose whilst watching sooty and sweep before bed, taken on my phone and I received the  up with a few tweeks in phone!

Could be better, could be a lot better, but it keeps me up to date and ready for tomorrow.

I think it's very cute. I like the framing too, it just needs the white gap between the photo and the heart filling in.

Enjoy your holiday! :)

Hi, Michael, lacking inspiration/fatigued, not a good place to be

Well done for getting there, good eye contact and a pleasant submission...

Bounce back next week and enjoy you holiday

Cheers.

I like this picture, but I'm allowed to, she's my grand-daughter. He is the lovable Spike. This project has brought in some great ideas, with alot of interpretation. I'm just glad I joined TP. Travel safe.

Hi Michael, well done on getting your image in on time, brinksmanship I think its called ;)
If I am being honest here, I am not a fan of the border. I feel it is too overpowering and your daughters lovely little face is lost amongst the busyness of the frame.
Also, I think the photograph is a little soft, don't know if that is as a result of your phone and how it handles the image. Apologies if that sounds a bit harsh, its not intended. Iain

That's not harsh at all Iain, thanks for your comments, it is a touch soft, a bit of caitlin moving and some movement transferred as it is a touch screen shutter. I will revisit this one on a reshoot week.

Good idea and good shot on theme . Nice catchlight in both pairs of eyes and a pleasant composition

Thanks Alan

Hi Michael...hope you have a great trip

Friendship ....not really an image for me I'm afraid , Iain (Blakester) put my thoughts in to words precisely , the border is a little to over powering , the image a little too soft but given it's a phone image I guess it's pretty good . Look forward to seeing some holiday shots mister

I know the feeling Michael, been manic all week and am still strugling for something I'm happy with,

I like your idea, the dots in the image niggle me a bit, but the actual image is spot on, good thinking a child and cuddly toy are often inseperable

Thanks Lynne and Dean, I will certainly revisit this when a re-shoot pops up. Hopefully I will have a good clear mind for it then. Really looking forward to the holiday. Sooo many different things to photograph!

Thanks very much Peter, certainly not my best but I still kind of like it, and gives me a definite theme for the next re-shoot towards the end of the project.

As for change, this may get posted this week, but as we are on holiday and driving down to penzance on friday I may end up going for a change of scenery pic for the theme... if I can't get access to upload then I will have a triple whammy at the end of our 2 weeks holiday.

The same here on the border, have a good holiday looking forward to seeing some pics

Very good Michael, fits the theme really well. Have a good holiday

Got some wifi at the b+b, so I thought I would quickly pop in my week 40 and sooc picture for change.

Now, I have gone for the change of scenery route, here we have a boat called "defender" 06. Tried to find out some info on it but can't find anything on good old google!

As it was raining I only decided to take 1 camera, the panasonic g3 which I am borrowing for my dad. Quite handy for sooc as camera raw in elements doesn't support it yet. So jpeg all the way. Only one lens and this being the 14-42 kit zoom.

Week 40, Change (of scenery) sooc by scilly puffin, on Flickr

Hi Michael,

Friendship, alas I agree with Iain & Lynne! Also DK about the dots in shot. However, it's a very cute shot of Caitlin and Spike! Peters rights, kids and their soft toys do make great friendships, I would have taken a picture of Jack & his Blankie, but have done twice already this year:bonk: Well done for getting a shot in on time

Change, a little shoe horned into the theme I feel  I know it's SOOC but I would have tried to crop out the wall on the left and the little shadow bottom right.
I hope the weather improves for you and you have a lovely holiday.

Tenuous link but I understand why you've said change of scenery as you don't get to many ships in Derbyshire  Looks like you weren't helped with a very grey day I'm afraid. SOOC though.

Gotta agree on it being tenuous, but... it does fit with the explanation of Change of Scenery. There's a lot of grey there... :( But the detail in the boat is good... Hope you have a good holiday, in spite of that greyness

I was going to wag my finger at you because not up to your usual standard.....but I guess I'll ket you off because you are on holiday :)

Hi everyone  Can't believe week 1 of my holiday has finished  thank goodness I have a 2nd week. Thanks very much for all the comments, it certainly was a lousy day and I was so cautious about using the G3 in the rain!

Been an eventful week here, including fog, fog, fog and more fog  torrential rain, hail and the the first ever thunder storm I have witnessed on the islands in all the time I have been coming! In between though it hasn't stopped me enjoying the holiday, it never would as I love this place what ever the weather! Also had to be moved into a hotel, our flat accommodation has a bay window, during the rain, a waterfall of rain water came flooding inside! So currently enjoying a very nice hotel room with a breakfasts on the house!

I have done another picture for change, not sooc though, I actually used the instagram app to do this picture and also the natural pic too.

And week 41 and natural

Week 41, Natural by scilly puffin, on Flickr

This was taken off a boat as I was returning from a pelagic trip, moments after this was taken I was soaked to the skin! So as weather goes with the word natural and I quite liked the end result I went for this one for the theme.

And whilst I'm here I am going to post my photo for age.

Here we have a picture taken on the Island Of Samson in the Isles Of Scilly. The theme age is very appropriate for the islands, but this one inparticular, as it is an uninhabited. This online leaflet gives you a good idea of some of its history. This picture was taken the other day on top of the island on a stupidly windy day, nearly losing my camera kit to the wind! This was also an instagram picture as well. I didn't have much time on there due to tides, so I wasn't able to get any pics of the buildings.

Hope you like the pics, also going to re do the friendship picture whilst here as well.

Thanks for reading through to the end, I shall catch up with your pics sometime during week 43

Glad you're having a good holiday Michael, They never last as long as they should though, and I'm sorry to hear the weather hasn't been kind... however, an indoor waterfall does seem a little extreme ;) ... still a hotel with breakfast doesn't sound so bad.

New Change, fits the theme perfectly. I like the processing on it too.

Natural, now that's some might moody skies... You can see the rain in the not too far distance... nice idea to use the wake in the shot.

Age, another day of yuck skies.. I like the feel of it, and the processing suits. I wonder what it would have looked like it the curve of the cliff (??) was continued all the way through the image... it looks like it should be able to fit..

Change - Much prefer the second one and the addition of the ticket gives the image some context

Natural - It looks like the bad weather has a natural attraction to you. You've certainly given it a sense of being stormy.

Age - The bit I get with the theme is the processing you've chosen for this making it look aged - probably a polaroid from the 70's.

I like the composition of change and on natural the sky looks very angry but not sure about the PP again with age the I think maybe a more traditional landscape not sure about the square.

enjoy the rest of your holiday

oops, been missing comments again!

change - I actually expected to see a lot more money shots :) it was my first thought. I do like this one, the addition of the ticket makes it better I think - because of the colour.

age - great idea to age the picture, love it

natural - not too keen on this one sorry, I know the darkness and B&W is deliberate, but I think it's too dark and missing colour. More to do with personal taste than crit of the shot though :)

Hi Michael

thats the only downside with holidays....they NEVER last as long as they shoud...time goes quicker when on your jollies I'm sure :'(

Change...like it , pp suits ,splash of color in the ticket & the BG  My OCD is screaming at me to turn the coins all the same way though...sorry

Age...I'm obviously missing something here as I don't see any connection to the theme other than the aged pp affect ? Maybe I need to read the online blurb

Natural....very dark n moody , effective , pp to suit...just an horizon on the squiff that lets it down

Here is the link for samson

Thanks for all the comments on my latest pics.

Spread, well these seals were spread out on the rocks, so to have something a little different I have gone with this one. I did have a pic of a big number of them spread out on a beach, but exposure was a nightmare, bright sunshine, dark seaweed and bright sand! Not easy so went with this one instead :)

Week 43, Spread by scilly puffin, on Flickr

Will catch up with your pics soon. In b+b now and travel back tomorrow sometime.

I like your idea about them being spread out. I always like seeing seals like this. They seem to be sat there watching the world go by.

great idea, I'd like to see a wider crop tho - maybe just at the top. :) you should post the larger one too anyway :p
