Michael McIntyre Police Helicopter photo

Helicopter, Personnel, fuel and wasting time and money...........YUP! that's about it.

I remember a good few years ago, I got stopped by the Police. I had been working the night shift and I was on my home early in the morning. I was told it was just to check everything was in order, and I was all legal so all was OK. But before the Police were finished, the Policeman pointed at his car and said look there. He then said your face has been clocked. I thought that was a bit out of order, but I never bothered with it further. The amount of times we must be recorded when getting stopped now.

You think tweeting celeb gossip is an appropriate activity for a police force? I think it cheapens them.
What's sad is, my opinion of the police is already so jaded that I can't be bothered to feel strongly about this.
Police embarrass themselves again? Meh.

Wrong, perhaps not.
But really, what was the purpose of posting it in the first place?
It's called light hearted humour, it shows they do have a human side, just like some of the rest of us. It's harmless fun.

Had that been the sole purpose of the flight then yes, but I very much doubt it was, so wasn't a waste of personnel, fuel and money.

I've been stopped several times in the past, all for routine checks, never had nothing to hide, never had a problem with it and no problem if they want my picture. There are so few photos of me anyway, it's nice to know someone may have some. :)

I suppose I am used to it now, as I always get followed about in the park by the warden. I know they do video people, to see if they pick up their dogs poop. I have nothing to hide either, but there again I do photo and video stuff here and there also ...

You do know you're not supposed to hide in hedges and do that, right? ;)

Why? They have done nothing wrong.
Of course they have done something wrong. They should be using their surveilance systems to protect the public, not to behave in this infantile way.

Suppose that they tweeted pictures of people in embarrassing situations - perhaps doing things that they don't want their employers or partners to know about, but which are perfetly legal? How would you feel about that if they caused you problems in this way?

The fact of the matter is that we need to be able to trust our police (and security services) not to make improper use of the data they have on us.

.

And that's exactly what they will have been doing, until someone pipes up and goes "hey is that Michael Macintyre?, get a pic". It's not as if they went out with the intention of finding a celebrity to photograph, I'm sure if they did they'd have managed a better pic.

The proportion of the sortie devoted to these antics was though.....

I couldn't care less tbh, don't even know why I posted a reply, that was wasting my time as is this reply.......LOL, Hold on but this was just while I was working on some editing and well the laptop was on and well I was logged on and O well, - still waste of my time, only difference is the tax payer is not paying for it. The point being public servants using tax payer funded helicopter to assist in their messing about and then going public with their antics......

Its a smaller abuse of public funds by highly paid professionals........NOT clever in this economic climate of cut cut cut! anyway I am off my soap box and stand by my opinion....

Someone was telling me, a friend of theirs has a son who is a Police helicopter pilot. Hovered over his mothers house and spoke over the Tannoy, he said to his mother who was sunbathing,( get your top on) . OK not very professional, but lots of us do iffy things.

She should have told him to do one
She wasn't doing anything illegal :-)

Well, to be pedantic, if the person was a pilot then he would have been a civillian, not a police officer.
The police did try training their own pilots once, it didn't work out well and was very expensive in terms of both human life and helicopters.

Everyone does iffy things sometimes, it's human nature. But for someone in the police to publish photos via twitter that should never have seen the light of day is just irresponsible. Not serious, but still wrong.

Well it was the Police helicopter he was flying, so he was still technically the Police helicopter pilot ;)

Is it any different to police officers on duty at things like the Notting Hill Carnival posing with revellers and having a good time or these two coppers at Glastonbury

Chances are the police in that helicopter were doing their job and monitoring something saw McIntyre and it would have taken just a fraction of a second to have snapped that photo. I very much doubt it detracted from what they were supposed to be doing. Some people really do need to lighten up. It is possible to carry out your job and remain human.

Fooling around with the public at a public event is fine, it shows that they're human and is very good PR.

What is different about this is the invasion of privacy

According to Garry (in an earlier post), it was taken from a drone rather than a helicopter so a bit cheaper to fly. (Wonder if the controller was correctly certificated etc.?)

Oddly though, he possibly was! A man who spots a lady sunbathing topless can be a peeping tom but if a woman sees a man sunbathing nekkid, HE is flashing, even if he has a reasonable expectation of not being seen (such as in his own back garden behind 6' fences...)

He was on a high street if I'm not very much mistaken. It would be no different to anyone else taking a photo of someone famous and posting it on whatever social media. No invasion of privacy at all.

The latter really is a myth.
There are no laws in England or Wales that specifically make nudity a crime...not just on your own property, but publicly.

It has to be proven that the naked person deliberately set out to cause shock or distress...which for sunbathing in the garden, especially for a first time, is nigh on impossible.

What did the naked rambler get done for, who was always getting put in prison? He never wore clothes, he loved going about bare.

Being a dick in a public place?

Nah he had revealed his inner snake......Not nice, imagine you are eating you sarnies and crisps and that goes by at eye level........YUK

I got away with flashing 143 times. I finally got busted for gross indecency...

:coat:

Public nuisance offenses related to being naked repeatedly after it HAD been proven that he often did it yo cause offence and distress. :-)

I could never understand, why did he simply not wear a loin cloth?

I don't think they should have made it public....I have no issues in what they did other than making it public. What if he was supposed to have been somewhere else but "called in sick" etc. The police could have inadvertently ruined his career (ok ruined is a bit to far to you should get the gist)

I know I have fat fingers and can end up hitting the wrong key, but how the hell did you manage to hit the 'c' instead of the second 'n'?

And another incident where I needed to proof read

Although have to hand it to you, that was clever ;)

That was a former life, the then girl friend. I have to be careful what I say here, the missus ( who I love dearly ) has found this forum by searching my username on the net
