mich66 - my 52 (week 22 - catching up slowly)

thanks all.. it was a 'vintage' fair - i'd have said more jumble sale to be honest ;) this lady stood out in her fur coat so thought i'd go for a sepia look as the original is a bit vibrant I think.. definately a big step out of my comfort zone taking photos of random people, my zoom lens came in handy for this..

here's the original

I love this Mich.
In fact I think it's my favourite from your 52 so far.

It's really got that vintage photo feel to it and I'm going to disagree with everyone else and say that I think the composition is perfect as is. I wouldn't want to see a closer crop that would lose some of the background detail.

You've obviously put a lot of effort into the PP. The little details like the white vignetting to fade the edges are spot on.

A brilliant week for you IMO

thanks sarah, appreciate that.. was pulling my hair out this week, all plans went out the window.. as they always do! - thought the sepia look matched her and the 'vintage' theme of the day :)

The sepia makes it easier on the eye but the colour one really jumps out at you...

I like them both, which I suppose means the picture itself is good regardless of PP!

Well done.

Very well done Michelle, the sharpness and details are very good... I'm in two minds over which wins, but I think I have to say... the older feel one does.

I think I prefer the colour one ...mmm although the sepia says "vintage" but then the colour one is really vibrant ...:bang:

Catchup time for me...

Chemistry was brilliant. Love the colours and the composition. Very good.

The PP makes the shot for me with Candid. I too like the composition but the processing really turns it from average to good. Well done.

Ian.

Candid - I prefer the full on colour version, showing to perfection what these things are all about and I cetainly wouldn't want anything lost to cropping.
It fits the theme well and well done for going for it, whether you needed the zoom or not.
The sepia doesn't work for me, I'm sorry to say. As soon as I saw it I felt that it jarred because the scene simply looks too modern to me to go with my idea of sepia images.

Really like 'candid' - the sepia tones work really well with the subject,

Phil

I prefer the sepia version - the brightness of the colours are too distracting for me and take away from the lovely pose you have captured.

thanks all..

had no time at all this week so am using this for produce, taken on 20/3 for my 365 project, so just a day before the theme was announced :)

taken with my nikon coolpix compact, quite pleased with how sharp it came out..

I like this simple composition - very effective. The seeds make we want to study it in detail.

Phil

excellent shot for Produce Michelle.

Red and black is always a nice combo if you ask me. Very well done :)

Excellent - great colours and sharpness and I like the diagonal 'pose'.

Wow!
I liked that anyway, but when I read that it was shot on your compact I'm even more impressed.

I don't think I can add much to what's already been said.
Great colour combination, well lit and very sharp - good week for you (even if this wasn't shot specifically for this theme)

I like the red against black, the simplicity of the shot and the sharpness/detail you have managed to capture. Very nice.

thanks :-)

have been waiting for the reshoot week to be drawn since week 1 as was never happy with my entry for curved.. this was the shot I intended for this theme, but snow stopped play at the time!

Can't belive how far I'm behind on your thread:bonk:

Great shot for Chemistry, very vibrant colours. I agree with Sarah on the brushes as not being needed though.

I think the processing works well for that shot as being a jumble sale and the lady is wearing a fur coat it doesn't have a modern feel to it.

Love the reshoot on curved, perfect subject for the theme.

I really think Quadruped would be a better title for most the shots for this theme including mine :D and yours gets an aawwww! as well

 I liked your original curved entry, but I have to say that I can see why you wanted to shoot this.
 It's a really interesting piece of brickwork with some great textures. Is that blue tint natural or have you added it in PP?
It's an image that I could get lost in, looking at all those shadows, tones and textures . . . works really well.

Quad is a lovely, natural shot.
I love the posture that you've caught and the sleepy eyes.
Feels just a little tight on the RHS to me though.

I agree with Sarah you're curved shot is absolutely gorgeous :) it is an image you could spend ages gazing into

Lovely Quad shot too, even if you can't see her legs :)

thanks all..

will catch up on commenting ASAP, am getting behind with things here!

the arches are that colour, its under a railway bridge.. have always liked the look of them, the brickwork is fabulous.. I straightened the side and the bottom was wonky so straightened the side and...... oh well :)

:lol: You and me too! You could always crop that virtical wall out, though. That brickwork and the arches makes a great image, and the colour adds to the industrial look - it's got great atmosphere.

#2: Lovely - peaceful, relaxed, and I'll take your word there are 4 legs there! lol

Love the reshoot of curves - great capture! Really interesting composition and I like the colours.

Cracking shot for quad, only crit would be it looks a tad oversharpened.

Phil

The reshoot is excellent.. love the textures and colours.

Quad is an excellent capture, well done

spotted this tiny little weed 'shooting' up between the flags on my path.. got down on my knees to 'shoot' it before pulling it ;)

Very nice capture of the little shoot Michelle. I like the light you've caught just on the buds, and the composition works well too

Horrible, nasty things :(

But a lovely image none the less. Light's great and the tarmac sets off the buds and leaves nicely.

That's great!

Love the fact that you've avoided the obvious spring shoots and focused on a weed! Shame the leaf sticking out at 45° back left isn't in focus too, but that's just me being picky.

I really like that, very simple and with a nice dof.

The sunlight had caught the weed nicely and help separate it from the background.

Hope no-one saw you on yours hands and knees photographing weeds...haha

Ahh - that is a lovely image, and not the usual spring shoot. The narrow DOF seems spot on for my taste. I like the simple, limited colours, and believe it would look even better if you crop off the pale line at the top, which is a bit distracting.

Hairy bittercress - you can eat this, you know. A little added to a salad gives a nice peppery zing, and it has bags of vitamin C....
