weekly mich66 ~ 52 weeks 2013 (TIME)

Great idea, I like the use of the spoons to break it up too.

Well done Michelle

thanks for the comments all.. appreciate it.. I preferred the slightly off comp of the spoons, looked a little too staged all neat and lined up.. good to get different views though of course :)

Two good starter shots there Michelle. All the best for completing your 52 this time around! I'm trying a different tactic after my fail in 2010.

Both shots look like a lot of effort went into them. Sin gave me cause for a wry smile and is a beautifully composed shot. The colours and processing are spot on, but it's the thought behind it that works so well here.

It's the same for Season. Just goes to show that taking some real time over these things really works in the end. The spoon locations work well to space the image out and the colours and textures work well together.

Setting the bar high indeed! :)

Ian.

Really good idea with the salad, the lighting and focus looks spot on :)

It looks excellent nicely lit and nicely in focus , I have to ask is it two pics

thanks all..

the 'tossed' bit of the salad is on glass and raised above the bowl which is on a tilt underneath it.. had to get rid of one or two reflections in the glass :)

very clever I couldn't figure out how you did it

Very creative take on the theme Michelle
No real crit to add, I find this a bright, well lit, composed and colourful image.
I like this a lot, perfect  Iain

Wow! This is seriously good.. and I was even more impressed by your methods of making it look tossed!

Excellent image. Probably sellable as a stock image! (I hope that's seen as a compliment and not an offense!) :)

Ugh... You've actually managed to make salad look appealling! :D

The colours really pop, wouldn't change a thing.

Ho, there, well light, cracking, vibrant colours, good detail and cracking idea. Crit, well the tossed salad looks a tad static.

Cheers.

thanks all

and no offense taken by that at all Jamie.. my first 2 were selected by getty so you never know! ;)

will do some catching up with everyone tomorrow..

Wow, I really like that, fantastic job. Would work great as an illustration for a healthy eating magazine!

Excellent
The colours, focus and composition are great
Perfect for gravity
Love the thinking

Great colours, great composition, great focus and great background!

GREAT!

Season - I like the way you have the detail in both the salt and pepper and beautifully composed.

Gravity - lovely cheerful colours, just right to look at on this dreary grey (if covered in snow) day

I see your first two were selected by Getty - well done. My first two were accepted at Fotolia although I did the second one as single pictures and a set of four without frame. Latest is too much of a crop to even think of submitting - maybe we have found a new way of dreaming up stock images :)

Hi Michelle

Season - good comp and colours handled really well
gravity - good idea and on theme. Colours are wonderful - really vibrant. I am never too sure about a shot that just peters out at the edge - never know where the shot finishes - just a personal thing

Super job - love it & I'd never have worked out the technique without you sharing...

Really clever how you've set up gravity, I would never have thought to do it like that. Lovely colours and light.

Looking back at sin - like the composition, your left hand is a little too grungy though :)

Season - really nice textures and colours and like the way you've laid this out.

Looking forward to more.

Thanks for the comments everyone.. appreciated :)

I've never looked into Fotolia, must do!.. Well done getting yours accepted

You are SO pro. I could learn a lot looking at your stuff, so I'm going to keep looking! ;)

Impressive shot, colous, focus, composition. Fabulous Michelle!

A lovely product shot that has "Food magazine" written all over it. Well lit, and well composed. Attention to detail and thought gone into how you'd present it.

You're on a roll :) Keep it up!

Ian.

Proper shot this! Great light, colours and composition

Hi Michelle

I'll 2nd Iain's comments...really well lit , lovely colors & a great take on the theme

4/52 ~ wild

I didn't want to go for an outdoors shot.. so was thinking 'wild child' and went a little mad on the processing too.. which I guess wont be everyone's cup of tea.. I think opinions will be split on this one.. but that's always good :)

oh, used my sigma 10-20 to give a bit of distortion..

might try something else if I get the chance during the week..

Great idea, I like the POV and the wide angle distortion suits the mood. The muted colours & vignette made me think of the lomo scene which also ties in with the teenage rebel feeling here. reminds me of when I was a punk in the '70s :D

I don't think your submission today is up to the standards of your other weeks though, please let me explain.

The legs make great leading lines but should the focus point have been on the fingers instead of the shoes? I can't help but keep coming back to the sharpest point.

I also have a niggle that the floor is too clean, I wonder would this have worked better in a public lav? or a bus shelter with a bit of litter about the place for a proper urban grungy feel...

I am trying to be constuctive and I sincerely hope that this has come across as constructive to you, especially as you are SO good at photography and I am not as good, I hope I haven't offended, please feel free to ignore me; it's only my opinion after all.

Thanks Brian!

Don't be daft.. say what you want.. ;)

The kitchen floor is new.. and the surly daughter would only come downstairs to there for the shot so no chance getting her to another location.. But a grungy public loo or subway would have been ideal.. Perhaps an idea for a reshoot when the weather improves?

I wasn't allowed to focus on the hands either (she didn't want to be in focus).. so it was the feet.. and I am a converse fan so I thought it worked - I was pretty wild by the time i'd finished with her!

I like table top / still life set ups so the first three themes were ideal.. am sure there will be some dodgy weeks during the year :)

I see what Brian's saying, but I like the focus starting at the first touch of the subject, then blurring progressively from there... Just a matter of taste I guess. It's very rock 'n' roll, a nice interpretation of the theme for me. I like the grain, and the washed out colour... Reminds me of the days when rock and roll was still dangerous (ish).

It's one of those shots images that could easily take more distortion, and more noise. I'd like to see a dirtier, grungier version of it.

Thanks Nick,

I toned it down a bit.. should have gone for it.. and perhaps got her to put her scruffy converse on and not the new ones ;)
