Hi All,
Newby on here although I've been loitering for a while.......I moved from a Nikon FE2 to a Coolpix 5700 about 5 years ago. Using the SCA 343 hot shoe adapter, my old 45CT4 has worked well with the 5700, giving full TTL facility. At that point I was ignorant of trigger voltages etc, but everything has been OK so far and I should say that I've now read and understood Cowasaki's excellent thread about trigger voltages.

I'm shortly looking to upgrade to a D90 and wonder what the limitations would be to using the CT4 with the D90. Presumably the voltage is OK (around 12v)? Would I get TTL flash control as on the 5700? Or....would I be better buying a modern digital flash gun and forgetting about that second lens? I would really appreciate your comments on the matter.

Many thanks in anticipation for replies .

Don't know about the D90 but the 45CT4, (which I have and is an excellent bit of kit!), will not work with Canon DSLR's. I actually phoned the Metz importers for the answer.

Thanks for that Barry. After doing a bit more research, I think the answer is that TTL mode will not work with the D90, but the Metz will trigger OK if I use a hot shoe adapter and use the gun on auto mode. Bristol Cameras seem to have a fair bit of expertise on this and hopefully they will be more definitive. I'll let the forum know when I get a better answer, because these problems seem to keep cropping up from differing angles.

Off to sunny Kent now for a few days.

Thanks again,

Ernie
