A Metropolitan Police spokesman said an out-of-court settlement had been reached with the force paying out compensation and legal fees.

Another over zealous policeman who didnt like it when he was told he was wrong and had no right to stop a photographer. How much has this cost us all I wonder? :shake:

Im sure it's cost us as taxpayers but maybe now there will be (another) reminder to the met et al about the actual law so that the idiots in the police may actually learn something?

Fair play to the teenager for bringing a case frankly.

I can't believe a police inspector would actually tell a teenager that taking photographs is "silly" and "gay". That's the sort of thing kids say to each other in primary school.

Oh dear. The police say they losing respect from the public. Wonder why??

"He described the act of taking photographs as 'silly' and 'gay' and 'stupid'," said the spokesman.

What.

I figured you had to be at least 18 to be in the police force, but evidently they've lowered this age to 12, because that's the only age I'd expect to hear comments like this from.

Sack him.

That is the way to go, it's no good just paying compensation and saying sorry, if no action is taken against the officers involved, they will just keep on doing it.

Start sacking one or two (not moving them sideways into a different job) and other will quickly get to hear about it and mend their ways.
