Hi all
Can someone please help.
I hear a lot of you guys say you take a meter reading off the grass particularly when shooting something like cricket.
Please can someone explain the how to do it.
cheers
Mark :)

Yep - stick the camera on manual. Metering can be on evaluative, spot or centre weighted - doesn't really matter at this stage. Point the camera at the grass and ensure it fills the frame (unless you're on spot meter obviously). Adjust the shutter speed/aperture/ISO until the indicator shows correct exposure.

I usually go 1/3rd above correct exposure, especially under floodlights.

Then you've got your settings and you can shoot away.

Obviously if the light changes (e.g. daylight to floodlights) re-do the procedure. Dont forget to do the same on your second body if you are using one, as I did recently, and ended up with a load of underexposed tosh.
