metering mode for studio work.

Yup, if you're in a studio you'd be using flash, so the camera metering system doesn't come into it, as this is only for constant/ambient light reading.... but you might be using a continuous light source, are you?
 
thanks guys that what i wanted to hear, in my day job i work with a know all ,and he says hes forgot more about photography then i know.
He said i should be using spot metering or center weighted and not matrix, i said i was working in full manual and the metering make no difference to exposure as the iso and shutter speed and apature are all set.
but i wanted something to show him monday.

dek im using studio strobes.

Never mind the metering mode, chimp off the LCD/histogram/blinkies - far more accurate.

Or take an incident-light meter reading, but the histogram will still be better.
