meteors showers tonight and tomorrow night

Thick cloud here... not much of a chance me thinks... :'(

Clear sky here, keeping an eye out.
Dont think there is much point taking shots with my kit though. Would liek to see the shower anyway.

So what time will we be able to see them? lol After 11pm and through the night?

Just a mass of clouds here, driving down country lanes though later, so if I see any good clear spot I'll stop for a while.

My zoom won't go that far David, I had my mums binoculars' haha... my mum was saying it was a helicopter but i knew for a fact that was no helicopter.... I was quiet amazed actually. But i doubt i'll be seeing any in the skys tonight....

Could have been a satellite,

no sightings of ISS over my way Clicky Linky
20th to 25th this month for me check your area

that would make a cool image shooting star and ISS streaking across the sky

I'll be driving home soon from work, but still just full of clouds everywhere.

I might go for a drive later on tonight, maybe midnight :P

seen two or three over Bedfordshire from about 10:15 so far. Think its going to be better much later on though.
Too much light polution though to photograph properly.

OK rub it in why dont you :D  like to see them if you do manage to get out

Been out in the garden for an hour with the camera.

Saw 6 'shooting stars'. Had the camera on the tripod taking 30 second exposures 200 iso f5.6 30 secs 17mm on the 17-40. Got lots of passing aircraft and one frame with a Perseid in it. Looked bright and fast as I watched it and knew it was caught on camera. The frame shows a dull line across a bit of the sky with much brighter (stationary) stars in the rest of the sky.... so all in all a bit of a failure :)

Seen a few tonight and 3 satellites. Been quite a cool night, hoping to see more tomorrow night, we're all having a meteor meet, if I even bother getting my camera out the car (stayed in the tonight - just wanted to watch) then I might give a night shot/star trail thing working.......

doesnt look like they easy to take photos of, whats settings should i use?

Just been out, the skies having cleared wonderfully. Saw one meteor, one satellite and an overflying aircraft - don't think any of them were in frame though.

Went out with my laptop, so used the EOS Utility's multiple exposure bulb timer function to take a series of identical exposures for stacking purposes. Editing them will have to wait until tomorrow though; will post any results on here.

Went to dentist last friday to have a filling replaced. Obviously something's not right as had bad toothache tonight. Took a couple of VERY strong painkillers:cuckoo: that were left over from when i pulled my back.

Set myself up in the garden, saw a few meteors whilst setting up. Put the remote control on the camera and plonked myself in the sun lounger and must have almost immediately fell asleep! Oh well, try again tomorrow.

Going to bed now.

It's not easy. Have you read my account of how I did it in 2007? I linked to it a few posts back, but to save you time it's here. I'm not claiming it's a definitive guide, but there are some pointers there which should be helpful. If you fancy a try tonight and you have any questions that my earlier post didn't address, just ask.

Weather update: the BBC forecast maps suggest that the best view of the meteors tonight will be in the east of England: north of London and east of a line joining London, Leeds and Newcastle. The south and east of Scotland might get some decent gaps in the clouds too. But for the rest of us: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I had a clear night last night... I spent over an hour laying on the sun lounger watching and looking around with my Binos... camera clicking away next to me. I saw 9 Perseids, 11 satellites. I caught 4 Perseids on camera, but of course, the bright ones happened where the camera wasn't pointing :bang: I can post them up and provide directions to see the Perseids in them, might see about annotating with arrows...

Look forward to seeing your shots John if you post them

I got a bit disheartened actually. About 2300 I stood outside for about 30-40 mins, looking up and saw..............

b****r ALL!!!

So I went to bed.
Shame, earlier on I was watching for about 10 minutes and saw one shooter and two satellites!!!

Ok, here you go... they're not great, and the perseids are faint faint faint...

This one has a second Perseid in it, a bit lower than the first, but at this image size I can't find it.

You missed the best one Andy, you were about 12 minutes too late... at 10:48 there was an absolute belter blasted through the sky to the west of the Zenith... real bright, left a trail, that hung around for about 3 seconds too... guess where my camera wasn't pointing...

Oh man. How typical is that

I was planning on sitting in the sun lounger for some time, but I was so shattered. My little girl has a habit of getting me up at 06:30 EVERY monrning without fail :bat:

Bless her!!

Thanks John and Robert they do look faint but good try's all I had was damn clouds same as last year, looks like their hard to capture also, good efforts guys

We lay on the grass for an hour or so last night watching with the kids and saw about 5 really bright meteors (no camera set up though as there is too much Light Pollution in my back garden). Even so they were quite impressive enough to 'wow' the kids.

A good shot here from UK astronmer Pete Lawrence:

Wish I had a nice 'dark sky' site........

lucky me had Perseus hanging just above London, I had a lovely view of glowing orangey goodness.

The shower peaked at about 0500 this morning, but it's been going on for a couple of weeks, and will continue, tailing off, for the next couple.

All you lucky buggers that are getting to see these, the only showers I'm see are the ones soaking me through to my bare arse, I don't even wanna photograph the meteors, just seeing them would be enough for me

shazbatt! it was clear as a bell in lincoln last night and i didn't know anything about it.

There'll be me in garden watching a crystal blanket of miserable cloud tonight i bet...:bang:
