I ordered a PC with Mesh computers.2 months ago.cancelled order as they were taking to long.Have been chasing up my refund as they kept fobbing me off with one excuse after another.Phoned today to be told I will not be getting a refund and to claim it back through my credit card company. If paid by debit the liquidation people will send a form to make a claim. This applied from 31 may so buyers beware.

If you want a computer buy locally where you can walk in and talk to people.

Try CCL at Bradford.

I was tempted by Mesh years ago, but a friend had major issues with them.

I've lost count of the times they have gone bust and been re-incarnated!!!!

+1 for CCL. Excellent service.

Also try eBuyer for internet only orders if you are further away. I've found you never have to pay the extra postage costs for getting things early as they tend to ship as soon as they can.

Another example of why you should always pay by Credit Card if spending over £100, even if you then pay the Credit Card off straight away with a Debit Card.

Not always true. some of the banks offer the same protection level to Visa debit cards as a credit card.

Lloyds TSB certainly do.

But they are not obliged to and can change that policy at any time they want to. With a CC you are legally covered. Why take the risk.

That and if the card details get compromised, your bank account isn't emptied before you notice either.... Always, ALWAYS pay by CC if you can online. It may even be worth getting a second CC and paying it off every month to use for online purchases if you don't clear your balance on your main CC every month.

Thanks for the heads up about this. I ordered a PC from them on 10/05/2011 and nothing had happened - been fobbed off with various components being missing (different ones every time).

Have just spoken to one of their operators who confirmed they have gone into administration and was then cut off. Fortunately, I paid on my credit card.

It's such a shame - the last PC I bought from MESH in 2001 is still going strong to this day, but I understand there was a change of ownership and the company rapidly gathered terrible reviews from 2005 onwards.

Oh no. bought mine last year. ah well never mind just hope it does not pack up on me.

Just had my daily email from PC Advisor and the headline is MESH in administration so I guess they are trying to salvage something from the company to sell on as a going concern.

Isn't it fraud to be still trading when in administration? it's obtaining money by decption if they know they can't supply the goods.

AFAIK the administrators become the directing mind of the company and they take the financial responsibility meaning that it can continue to trade whilst a buyer is sought - that being said I would be very cautious about ordering somthing form a company in administration!!

The whole idea of administration is to try and sell the company and the assests as a going concern and the only way to do that for most situations is to continue trading.

Bought a couple of PCs off Mesh about 2 years ago. Remember when the PC mags were full of ads from Evesham and Mesh, both gone now.

Mesh used to be good in the past but after my last purchase with them about 5 years ago I said I would never go with them again as they were crap and the system/reliability was crap.

Not sure what you're looking for but these guys are great and their customer service are great:

I had a external part that got delayed in the post and they sent me another one straight away and allowed me to put £20 to anything on their site. Not much you can do with £20 other than flash drives etc, but the gesture was appreciated.

I frequent the PCAdvisor forums and there were always threads about Mesh - they were capable of producing great machines at a great price but there were frequent reports of problem PCs which took forever to get sorted. Time after time people posted threads about their frustrations with Mesh and there seemed to be a constant tension between advertising revenue and published complaints in the magazine.

Customer service has frequently proven to be very poor.

When a company goes into administration their liability to the creditors is effectively frozen so that they have an opportunity to get back onto their feet. So they can still trade and also collect monies due to them.

Unfortunately, because many people view administration as liquidation then the two pretty much become the same in reality and as everyone finds out about the administration they simply don't want to deal with them.

It becomes too risky to provide credit to them knowing that they will probably be bled dry by the administrators and you'll end up getting 3p in the pound back from what you are owed.

It's a shambolic state of affairs and administrators/liquidators pretty much have a licence to print money. It's needs an overhaul.
