Sorry guys, I just need to vent.

Just took my cat down the vets for a check up after he previously had a bout of diarrhoea and the vets asked to see him again today as his belly was swollen last time.

Turns out he has a tumour in his intestines. :( :'( The vet said the moment he stops eating and is vomiting we have to make the dreaded decision. They won't operate because it doesn't leave the cat with a great quality of life. I just hope he has many more years with us.

He's my baby and I am absolutely devastated :(
 
Oh dear, sorry to hear this Sarah. I've been there with a Golden Retriever that I loved dearly. Still miss him.I sobbed like a child.
A friend once said to me, "you never own them, they are just on loan to you. Take as much care as you can of them and give them the lives they deserve".
It sounds like you fit into that category. Enjoy your time together and spoil him rotten. :thumbs:

That is sad news Sarah.
I'm sure you will give him the love and care he needs and fingers crossed he gets a little more mileage under his collar.
 
very sad to hear this. i hope you will still have some time together. i lost my cat lsat year and it broke my heart.
 
It's hard not to get attached to cats and dogs for that matter when they can bring you so much happiness.
 
Sorry to hear this Sarah. Hopefully mog will have many more happy years and remain largely unaffected by the growth. Our GSD has had a tumour on her flank since she was 6, and she's 12 now, so maybe don't panic. I know that is easier said than done though, especially during the silly season.
 
Sympathies.

My cat was right as rain on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning found her in the garden looking a bit ropey. Brought her indoors and sat her down near the radiator.

Wednesday lunchtime - no better so took her to the vet. They said she was dehydrated, so put her on a drip and took bloods.

Thursday - bloods revealed liver enzymes and white blood count slightly above normal. Vet could hear something on the lungs and decided to x-ray - revealed peritonitis.

Friday morning we took the decision to have her put to sleep, she was almost 14 and whilst operating was an option it was less than a 50:50 chance.

Now watching the other two carefully to make sure they haven't come down with it.
 
Had to make that decision in October with our cat so know how you feel. Its the right thing to do but you feel as if you have let your cat down somehow.

Thankyou everyone. It's very appreciated.

I'm trying to keep my hopes up, god knows how long he's had it, hopefully it won't bother him.

I'm going to spoil him everyday, more so than usual and just hope there's plenty more life in him yet x
 
Aww poor thing. At least he's been loved and spoilt and had a good life with you.
