Merging/Stacking (not stars!)

I tried a search but couldn't find an answer.....

I want to merge a few photos together into one image. It'll be a Union Flag around the edges with some products in the centre. I've seen there is startrails.exe recommended elsewhere, would this do the trick or just merge them into a full size overlap?

I have LR3.

Any help appreciated

I think you will need an editing program that supports layers.
I have not used GIMP but I believe it is free ans supports layers.
Have a look here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
You would load each image into a new layer and mask out the bits you don't want from each image so you only see the bits you want.

Or if you have money, PS Elements, or if you have lots of money PS CS 5.5.

Thanks for that, I do have Elements 8 so I'll give it a go in there.
