Hi, and thanks for visiting my thread! :)

I'm looking forward to my first TP52 challenge. Although I've done a 365 before (see here), that was some time ago and I haven't done much with my camera since. I am hoping this challenge will help fix that! :snaphappy:

Some interesting reading matter there.
25k children sent abroad by Dr Barnardo's !
Big Game Expedition - Private and Public shooting.Polar Bears, Musk, Oxen, Walrus, and Seals arranged
Can you imagine the outcry today if those were on the front page of The Times!
At 3 months before the beginning of The Great War, that certainly counts as old...

The shot is nice and sharp, I can read all of the corners :) and I don't see any real noise even at iso1000.
A small bit of crit, the verticals are slightly off and possibly the symmetry could be improved upon
But in all, a nice practice week shot (y)

Old news reports are fascinating and offer a really interesting glimpse into the past. Glad you've chosen a wide angle and chosen not to crop in tight - offering a greater range of stories keeps this interesting. Well done.

Great choice of subject matter Marcel

A lovely image and a good read as others before have said. The browning of the top edge adds to the aged feel.

Morning, some great stories in there. Its obviously on theme, but I might look for a different perspective, it just looks a little flat, if you see what I mean,

anyway welcome aboard, cheers

Hi, have to agree with Andy above, needs a little more thinking about

I've also got my "birth year" Marcel :) !!!!!!!!!!

Hi Marcel - welcome to TP52, hope you enjoy. Definitely old - a blast from the past. Good practice round .... now for the start proper eh!

I like the shadow created by the tear in the title - adds to the 'old' feel.

Hi Marcel. Well, it's metal all right and I like that you can see through it and I like the focus with blurred fg & bg but what is it's function and purpose I wonder - a cable ladder of some form ?!? Well done anyway.

Thanks. It's actually a metal 'net' in the middle of an outside table tennis table!

Ha ha - fooled me - looked more industrial. (Have you linked this to the main post page?)

I very much like the composition and subject. The fact that it's not immediately obvious what it is just adds some intrigue.

I was going to suggest a wider aperture to lose the background and really make the 'net' stand out but looking at flickr this was with a P&S, in which case, good work!

Marcel, this is a cool photo for the theme, loving the centre line and the background detail. Superb aperture choice. Good luck completing your 52

Good job with the composition I like the idea, I get you were trying to get the line down the middle but the resulting perspective bugs me a bit, what with the left side of the metal being closer than the right and the top therefore looking like it slopes.

Missed your first submission, so catching up.

Old - Nice find and an interesting subject for old, I would have been tempted to do something closer in but this works well and I like being able to see so many old stories.

Metal - Really like this, it's a great abstract and really had me wondering what it was. I would never have guessed, with the building in the background I was thinking it was something in a car park. I think the DOF you chose helps to create that mystery around it.

Hi I really like from white vertical line through the middle. I'm not too keen on the background and would have been tempted to get a bit higher up looking down to exclude the BG.

Cheers.

Great stuff! - I'd have never guessed.

Nicely done Marcel, love the interesting POV you have chosen.

I would never have guessed what that was without your explaination. As others have said, the background isn't the best, but there was little you could do about that without drastically changing the shot. Good one!

Old....love the subject matter....I have a newspaper from the 17th April 2012 - Daily Mirror - not sure I'd dare handle it now. It spent 80 years under old lino!

Metal...Liking that too, but might crop a little off the top.

I like it, BG 'n all.

Looks like granite or similar as used for kitchen worktops. On a trading estate of sorts.

Yet again, it's another shot of an everyday object that I would probably have walked by without giving a second glance, and once again it's captured very well - one of my goals in doing the 52 is to improve my 'photographer's eye'. At first I though it was a fancy metal barrier at the end of a parking bay. I love the tones, lines and shapes of this - it will also look nice in b & w I think. Lovely shot and nicely spotted.
