I was soooo impressed with this plug-in hybrid car that was parked nearby in a car park this morning. It was stunning. White/cream leather interior .This video is of the AGM Line. Even the passenger has an info screen. The rounded body edges are really sleek. I was surprised to see it's powered by a 2.0L petrol engine, though although 308bhp. I thought a car of this size would have needed a 2.5L or 3.0L. No doubt because engineering has moved on a great deal since that kind of thinking. In the second video (the review) the lady says you can't get air suspension models in the UK as you can in Europe. You have to wonder why ? She said it would be a smoothder ride.

Here's a a Youtube taken in a showroom and then a Youtube review.

I've always preferred a large, comfortable, quiet, saloon to sports-type models. Reviewers often say that the Audi A6 and other like models are wonderful to drive but don't have the 'punch' of a BMW and if it's a smooth ultra-comfortable car you want then go for the Audi A4- A6 or Mercedes E 300 series.

I'd do my back in getting in and out of those cars posted by James and Keith...

No-one, apart from James who said it's 'nice' has made comment of the one I posted. I assume y'all agree it's a beautiful, sleek majestic-looking car ..the inside, too. :)

On a negative note, though,I suspect it's high on the list for thieves ..organised gangs..who export these cars immediately after a theft.

Not a fan of the molten end look of the current E-Class Mercs. A mate of mine has one of them in the estate version and, while it's quite nice inside, I prefer the Jag version.

2 litres combined with the electric motor is plenty for ~300 BHP and gives him up in the 70s as far as MPG goes. With the solar panels on his roof (house, not car!!!), all his local miles are "free" (ignoring the capital cost of the panels) although it takes a while to charge through the 13A plug (solar doesn't put out enough to fast charge.)

It looks like many of the cars I see on their way to Soho Farmhouse country club. I wouldn't knock someone for buying one, but it wouldn't be a natural choice for me.

What's your style of car,Toni ?

Because of where I live it needs deep tyres, and a bit of height is useful too, when the country lanes are overgrown. But not too wide, because the lanes are also narrow and many of the bigger expensive cars driven around here just creep along because the drivers can't cope. So probably a small-medium SUV.

We used to have a Citroen CX in the early 90s, which is somewhat like that Merc, but I'm not sure it would be so functional around here now.

*Edit* if we didn't live here, practicality and roads were not an issue then I'd probably enjoy a largish ragtop, possibly BMW rather than Merc, or perhaps an Alfa of some kind.

I bought my wife a Kia xCeed(x demo from last employer) it was the colour she really liked, discovered these style of cars are known as a CUV, compact utility vehicle, things they come up with, still just fits in most parking spaces.

Styling of the new E-class and the 5-series far too fussy for my eyes

I am a sleek 4-door saloon kind of guy and I think this is one of the best looking cars out there;helga shrinked (2).jpg

It is, however, coming to that age when regular visits to the specialist to hand over ~£500 will come to much... Had these been in production for longer Saab would have been selling cars with eXWD, front wheel drive combustion and rear wheels driven by electric. but that never happened.

When my wife was working she had lease cars from her employer and we loved the Saab. I can't recall what model it was but it was large and a lovely pastel green colour.
