memory question

Been seeing a couple of computers recently that have been set up to edit videos. Now these have had 32Gb of memory but have had also Windows 7 Home Premium which I understand only sees 16GB.

Therefore the question is, the other 16GB is that wasted? Or does the editing program (Adobe Premier Pro CS6) see and use the full 32GB despite the fact that W7HP only sees 16GB?

the other 16gb wont be available to use at all within windows, youd need to go to professional which supports up to 192gb.

Yup, 32 bit won't see more than "4" irrespective of version but you'll still need professional to see more than 16, even with 64 bit.

and thats a current hardware limitation.. off the top of my head if i remember rightly (ive not had much caffine so dont 100% quote me) the x64 bit system can handle up to 3TB.

i dunno we've got a couple of dell R810 which max out at 1TB memory (across 32 slots)
