I was surprised to find that the Fujifilm XT-4 recommended SD card is only 1GB-2GB, a little low in capacity this is isn't it.

SD cards are limited in size. Later generations go up to 512gb. The XT-4 will take cards up to 512gb because it accepts SD, SDHC and SDXC cards

I saw the above, but what is puzzling me is that I have a 64gb Lexar Professional , 400x Speed SD card that I was using in my Canon and this will not format in the Fuji.

It's also worth noting that fuji and lexar can have issues. I've only ever had one card fail on me ever and it was a lexar pro 2000x 64gb uhs2 in a fuji. It appears lots of fuji users have lexar problems. I purchased 4 lexars, 1 failed, 1 actually came apart and the other 2 are now my no other option/spares left, in case of emergency try these. There are also lots of fake cards knocking about too.

If you're not doing any burst shooting and just shooting landscapes uhs1 sandisk extreme pro are dirt cheap on Amazon. I've never had a sandisk fail me. My t4 has 2 128 sandisk extreme pro in them using the second as backup and I have a couple of these spare for the t4 as well. The 128gb were on sale at amazon for just over £20 and the 64gb were only £12.

Just make sure the protective pin isn't flipped or the contacts are clean.

They are probably suggesting the big size due to the video chewing up space like mad. For photographs I would imagine it depends on how many shots you want to store on each card.
