hi i am new to this i have bought a sony a200 dslr i have a sandisk extreme111 4gb disc i have seen on the net a kingston 8gb disk for sale at £11.99 is there a great deal of difference between the two ?
 
I have the same card as you and it's a cracker! :thumbs:

Not sure about the other one, though
 
hopefully someone will come up with an answer -- seems too cheap to be good ?
 
I've got both the cards you have mentioned, the Sandisk ExtremeIII 4Gb and the Kingston 8Gb. I've never had any problem with either of them and to be honest I don't choose one over the other when loading it into the camera. I just grab whichever is closest to hand. Think I paid around 15 quid for my Kingston one though.

I stick to Sandisk from uk dealers. They are very relible cards.
 
thanks gonetae, anyone used a kingston 8gb memory card ? dont want to throw money away , i am happy with my sandisk but want more memory ( on the cheap ) as i am going to the states in sept i know i will need more than my 4gb
 
Kingston are a reliable make, I have one of those and never had a moments bother,
I also have a couple of sandisc ones... no difference IMHO.

A *genuine* Kingston 8Gb should be fine... Beware of fakes.
 
I use the kingston ones from 7dayshop with no problems.
 
I have 2 Sandisk extreme III 8gb + 1 Kingston 8gb cf cards for my d300. I do sometimes run into buffer issues with the Kingston card and never with the sandisk.

It's ok if not using continuous high though.
 
Never had Kingston cards, but have had no problems with Sandisk IIIs and IVs.

With regard to 8Gb, I'd be wary of putting too many pics on one card. I don't go beyond 4Gb for that reason. Just a thought. ;)

If I went to something with bigger files than the D300 produces, then I may consider a 8Gb, but then I have 13Gb in total at the moment, 1x1Gb, 2x2Gb and 2x4Gb which is enough for even the most machine gun type day of shooting. ;) :lol:

Memory is cheap though, and getting cheaper, just buy from a reputable source has I have seen fakes.
