CF?

EDIT: I should really look these things up before posting :D folks and heir abbreviations LOL

SD cards yes?

there is faster compact flash memory cards and slower ones, i wouldnt buy cheap im going to spend a bit on a good quality one then save and get a second to matching one

if doing motorsports a good speed cf card will be essential i have a cheap 4 gb card and it only allows 4 shots before i freeze cause its slow either though it says its fast lol

A lot of people tend to use the Sandisk ones (me included) and they are extremely reliable. I've never had one fail on me and they all come with recovery software. If you buy from Play.com or Amazon, you can get 4 gig Extreme III cards for 14.99!

CF = Compact Flash

Alot of them have speed ratings so the faster the better really, 7dayshop are currently doing a kingston memory Extreme III 8gb card for £11 delivered or a 16gb card for £18 delivered which is a cracking price,

EDIT: Blimey I need to type faster, 4 replies in the time it took me to type that :D

Sandisk ones are good. I use those also and have had no issues since I started with them.

If you're going to be shooting a lot of burst shots you might find the camera performing better with a faster CF card.

thanks again for the speedy replies
will get my memory card ordered up then

am i correct in thinking the 400 has no internal memory?

so i have to have a card in it to snap or view?

thanks fab

( i only got my camera today forgot to get memory card:bang: then tried taking pics :thinking:)

Ain't it a bitch? :D I reckon that's how high street stores manage to sell cards at such high prices, because people generally don't want to wait to play when they have bought their camera! You would think photographers would be quite patient, wouldn't you? ;)

togs, patient :lol::lol::lol:

That's SO true.. I received my 20D on Monday, My lens yesterday, and I STILL haven't received my card (ordered on on Monday too!) I'm this close to going to PC World or Curry's to get one while I wait! :bang:

I got an 8gb sandisk extremeIII from play.com I thought it was a good price at about £28

Go for the Sandisk 4gb Extreme III for £14.99 from Play.com
Its all i use now with the exception of a couple of old 2gb Extreme III's that i bought ages ago when they were at £14.99 :lol:

Take a look HERE as well, some good deals on CF cards.

Double post

It was My Memory who I used. Still waiting 5 days later..

They certainly aren't the quickest, but they don't normally take that long, although having said that the last one i bought from them got lost in the post and they had to send me another one, i don't recall play.com being very quick either i think they took about 5 days, i think picstop were about the quickest i ordered from, ordered and got it the next day.

Ain't memory cheap these days?!

Just had a look back at my first CF order from 7 Day - 3 pack of 128MB cards for £51.95.

Having had a cheap card fail, I now use SanDisk cards (most of them now Extreme III) and haven't had any problems with them.

thanks for all the replies

i just bought a kinston 4 gig off ebay for 9.90 posted which ill prob wait ages for

And if it's from ebay it probably won't be Kingston :(
