Just have had a sandisk 128GB 170mbs SDXC card fall apart . I can't complain it has had plenty of use. No, the point is I was looking for similar to make up another pair and 170GB cards seem to have been overtaken by 200 and 300mbps 128 gb cards. not long ago 90mpbs was the fastest one could buy

The sdxc version is the one needed for my camcorder. Too slow a Mbps card can cause a delay in burst shooting with a DSLR camera

Note that those are the read speeds and only if used with a suitable (i.e. Sandisk) reader. I believe 90MBps is still the fastest write speed for UHS I.
Oh, and 300MBps is probably UHS II which won't be any advantage to you.
Oh 2, please note the correct capitalisation. 1 MBps is 8 billion times as large as 1 mbps (US billions for the really pedantic). Which would you rather have?

That's completely irrelevant as no-one is suggesting using SDHC cards. All decent currently available SDXC cards are way beyond U3 and C10 which are now totally out-of-date metrics.

That is a bit aggressive when all I said was I wanted a replacement for the one that fell apart .

It would have been more aggressive if I'd seen the last line you added as you're confusing the recording bit rate with the card's read speed in bytes. And, as I said earlier, the capitalisation matters as an aid to reducing confusion.

Don't throw the card away. Sandisks warranty on cards is excellent.

I did this once, couldn't be bothered again for the sake of a few quid.
Photos, receipt, forms and then send it back to (I think) Czech Republic for inspection.
Ok if it was for a good few pounds, but the replacement for mine was under £15

been having a few problems getting the sandisk 170mb/s 128GB cards.even Curry's sent the wrong one checked with some of the larger camera companies who also appear to be out of stock and I would not go to Amazon (won't say why) for memory cards.
So decided to bite the bullet and go for 2 of the 200mb/s 128gb cards instead. CCL computers are the cheapest @£23.50 each I have found

Update horror story
DHL delivery at last second attempt. the first time the delivery driver never came yet claimed he left a card in tfhe door

I submitted a very strong complaint

today
DHL delivery at last. everthing now sorted? you must be joking. I also recieved a parcel with 200 metal hinges which should have gone to a building company but the fabulous DHL put my name and address on the package. As these 200 odd hinges are unsolicited goods I am entitled to keep. That is not me I contacted the suppliers and left a message on the recievers message service to come and collect

DH "balls up"L. company should be the name

I understand that my camera can take and use SD or SDHC or SDXC cards. I have a bunch of older SD cards and they are working fine and I have not (yet) waited for the buffer to write putting a hold on new images and have been of the opinion that until one fails there is little point in buying more just to have these redundant. I'm not into video and guessing that the faster speed cards would mainly be used for that.

I have two questions:

1. Would I notice any difference (other than having less money) for stills?
2. When do these things fail? I'm fairly sure I have never had one go faulty on me but assume that they do. I generally format them after clearing them.

Chris
In over 12 years doing stills and video I have only had 2 cards fall apart (not fail) on me, so I can't complain. On my camcorder depending on which format used SDHC cards wont work. Your handbook should have which cards are suitable
slow cards may cause buffering if shooting stills in a high speed burst. Below a couple of old slow MB/s cards that used to cause me problems

Thanks, I should have been clearer. The manual says I can use SD, SDHC and or SDXC, I use SD (slower than your CF above) and not knowingly had a problem. Maybe time to buy some new ones.

Sony tough cards really are well named. They feel so much more robust that other cards and the only two cards I have from around 15 that look like they are old are Sandisk. They still work but they are the only cards I think I will need to replace due to them falling to bits and that has happened on a previous Sandisk card.
