I'm in the middle of getting new CF cards sorted and fancy the Sandisk route.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with both of these cards?

I use a 5D III and use it only for images, no video use. Would the Extreme be sufficient or is there any other benefits to their Pro range? No point spending the extra dough to not use it to it's potential! It seems the Pro is directed towards video according to MyMemory.

Thanks in advance!

I always thought that the Pro seem to be aimed at video shooters, and if you do a lot of spraying.
I do neither, so the extreme have always been enough for me.
I've never even filled the buffer on either my D700 or my D750.
If I did, I guess the faster the buffer clears, the better it would be.
I'm sure others will disagree though !

Fast Write speed clears the buffer more quickly. Varies by camera, but mainly only an issue when shooting long bursts in Raw.

No other major advantage to very fast cards. I got a couple of Sandisk 32gb Extreme recently, with 85Mb/s write speed, £25 Amazon. That's pretty quick and would have been class leading a couple of years ago. Way cheaper than Extreme Pro https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SD...8&qid=1461839399&sr=8-2&keywords=32gb+cf+card
