So far I've always used Sandisk, but are there other reputable names to look out for......no dodgy makes from ebay thanks!

In Sandisk there's Ultra and extreme and II III or IV and different write speeds. I doubt if I'm going to need particularly fast cards, so any suggestions?
 
I have had so called 'dodgy makes' off ebay as well as 7dayshop.com. Never had a problem with any of them. I rarely need a very fast card th0.
 
I have Sandisk cards.
I also got a Lexmark Professional 8GB too.
I was unsure about it at first, as all Sandisk.
But I took the risk, seems ok to me, can't tell the difference when it's in the camera lol
 
I've not used a Kingston.
But i've heard some good things about them.

All you read on reviews is people's bad experiences with Card's
I have 3 cards, and not had a problem. But i havn't made a thread saying I havn't had a problem, etc.

It's only people who have problems who raise threads :) You should be fine with whatever you buy as long as it's genuine :)
 
I have used Kingston and Crucial without obvious problem in my 30d. I understand that there have in the past been difficulties with Lexar cards but I anticipate these have been sorted out by now.

for what Jerry? Generally, or for a specific camera etc?

I have a couple of Kingston 2GB 100x Ultimate cards and never had a moment's trouble in my 40D/20D combo

My first ever cards were made by Transend and those are still performing perfectly some 7 year later (albeit that they are my 'reserves' so don't get much use).

Like a lot of things in this world there are actually very few manufacturers out there and everything is labeling. Both Kingston & Transend make memory of all formats for other manufacturers to label up.
 
I have a Kingston 16GB that has performed faultlessly in the 40D, however the 1D3 no likey.

I use Sandisk Extreme III 4GBs in the 1D3 and they have never let me down.
 
Depending on what camera you have, you can check whether your camera can take advantage of the faster memory cards here at Rob Galbrath's website.

The main makes, quality wise are Sandisk, Lexar and Kingston imho. Though I'm sure people have had problems with these, fakes aside, I think the problems would be lower than for a no name brand. There are quite a few other brands tested on the Rob Galbraith site, though some of them may only be available in the US.
 
Well 4Gb extreme 3's are £12.50 on amazon atm and you can be certain they'll be fast and reliable. I have two transcend cards myself, 8gb and 16gb which i got for £16 and £25 respectively and they manage around 20meg/s so not as quick as the Ex3's but much quicker than I expected (hence the reason for buying another one)

I use a mix of Sandisk, Lexar & Transcend & tbh you would be pushed to tell the difference between any of them in use.
 
I like Sandisk 4GB Extreme III.
Why?
Good price - £17,99 Amazon,
excellent speed (tested on D3)
no problems with it

I already have 4 and i will buy more
