I am planning on buying another SD card for my Canon EOS 1100D and I already have a SanDisk 8gb 30MB/s card (given as a package when I bought the camera), what I want to know is this, if I buy a second card, would I be better off getting one with a quicker speed, e.g. the 95MB/s card, and what benefits would having a faster card give me ?
Would it mean that when taking burst images (when I hold the shutter release) the buffer wouldn't fill up so much and I could take more pictures, or, is it for when I am copying pictures from the camera to the PC ?

I ordered Sandisk 32Gb cards from mymemory, they were on special at £25.99, 45mb speed.
Waiting for them now, will post when they arrive.

My Memory are offering 16Gb Ultra 30Mbs for £9.99 delivered! Must be a bargain.

Thanks, but, before I buy ANY mem cards, I want to know what difference the speed makes to the camera, if it's a significant improvement on the 95MB/s cards, I am happy to pay out a little more to buy one, but, if it's a small improvement, I will stick with the 30MB/s ones.

I am also looking to buy a few new cards and would be interested to her people's comments. I have a 50D, the theory goes if you put faster cards in the camera then the buffer is going to empty quicker when shooting in bursts.

How this actually affects your photography will depend from person to person.

You will notice very little difference I think. I did some tests using continuous shooting with cards varying from class 4, cheap basic class 10, and a sandisk extreme 45mbps. Continuous shooting speed when the buffer was full stayed the same with the exception that the sandisk would allow two quick photos to be taken for every 6 or so slow ones. That was with a 600D. Copying to a pc afterwards would obviously be quicker though.
For 16gb there is little difference between the ultra and extreme cards in terms of cost so I would get the extreme. Personally I would not bother with the extreme pro though.
