Memory card, is this a good deal for a 40D?

word of caution with 8GB cards. are you prepared to lose 8GB's of data in one go if it gets correpted, lost etc... thats 800 shots on RAW.

I have 9 Gb worth of storage over 4x2gb cards and 1x1gb card. the most i will lose is 200 shots.

Personally I have 2x 4G Sandisk Extreme IIIs. Think they were about £18 each from 7dayshop. As said, probably not best to put all your photos in one basket. Though you would probably leave a card that size in the camera, it wouldnt save you from a corrupted card. Its a matter of seconds to swap cards.

I agree with above, better have more smaller cards then one big one

Hello all,

Looking for a new memory card for the 40D, is this a good one, and is the price OK?

Thanks.

If it's genuine, then yes, it's a good card:)

mymemory.com do their own-brand 8GB cards for £17.99 delivered. Same speed as the older Sandisk ExIII's (133x) and I've never had a glitch out of them.

Personally speaking, I've never had any form of flash memory corrupt on me, 4GB or 8GB cards are all I use. When the 16GB's get a bit cheaper, I'll start using them too...

I've had a CF card die on me.

Whilst you may not shoot burst in order to justify a fast write speed, a fast read speed means they download off the camera much quicker (esp if you use a card reader)
