Memory Card Failed?

Took the spare memory card from the wife's camera case to check another old compact, camera would not fully start up, tried in the other camera and screen read "please re insert card" could this card have been damaged or failed due to airport X-rays, not a big capacity card so not a big loss but curious anyhoo.

Don't think airport security would damage a memory card - x-rays certainly wouldn't, only a high magnetic field. Could be the contacts are dirty or damaged. But if in doubt, chuck it out.
