Yes
Just switched on my D40x, message came up saying. Memory card cannot be used due to error, or something along those lines.

I then put the card in my Mac, read the images fine and imported them. Formatted the card in the camera and jobs a good-un, no error message?

Official Sandisk SD card,2 months old, is it corrupt? Shall i replace it?

Try another card to see if its the Card or the Camera?

Seems ok now? Ill carry on but ill think ill get another spare

Do you format your cards regularly? It's a good habit to get into.

I guess i do, the card did have a bout 200 images on it and i had taken them off in stages using iphoto. But i didnt want to delete them on iphoto, rather format via the camera

It's better to formast your card of computer rather than camera

I have had similar problems with SD card in D5000, "card not found or something like that"
took it out and put back, fixed no problems. Seems joggling around in back of landrover had dislodged the card. Same also happens to android, "no sd card found".

If you are using sd cards remember they do lose sectors, they are not like hard drives or CF, if the sector happens to be in the FAT area, you lose file access, format will fix this.

Proper Sandisk. This thread is from last year, problem is resolved now. But how often should i format?

Format when you put it in the camera and are about to start a new shooting session.

Format in camera where possible, rather than via the computer.

I agree. I was deleting files from mine using PC & the camera was showing the wrong space left on the empty card & how many pics i could take.

I format my cards using the camera everytime I download them to the computer.
