Finding my brother's stash of dirty magazines and using then as blackmail leverage for a VERY long time![]()
nice oneYes, I remember them...I seem to have the name of "Thunderclap" in my mind...
That does sound familiar, you maybe right.
Yep! You were right.

Cool, I probably would have got mine free with either The Beano or The Dandy as they were the ones I read.
I think I got mine free with The Dandy, we used to make our own too once the freebies got battered with too much use.
Anyone remember the kids TV programme Why Don't You? Some of the kids on there really used to make me cringe, they were so precocious.

I remember the whizzy tubes and the thunderclap things.
What about those 2 mini snooker balls on a bit of string with a thumb holder half way along. You were meant to bounce them together with more and more force until you got them to meet overhead.
I dont think they were around long because of kids with broken forearms up and down the country.
Clackers I think they were called.
Clackers! Yes!
I remember a product recall when some dodgy batches of Chinese origin would shatter when clacked too hard.
Of course, you should never clack too hard.....
If you clack to hard you could bust your giblets![]()
And busted giblets are terribly hard to wrap with a bandage you know.
Put em in a sling![]()

Klackers were often seen wrapped round telephone wires on estates.

Remember playing out all day during the summer hols, when the woods would be alive with the sound of Tarzan calls?
Ooooowwiieeooowieoooooooooooowieooowieooooooooooow!!!![]()

I memorized his elephant command "Umgowa!" when I was young - just in case I ever needed it.
So far, I have to say, I have not needed it. And in fact I am doubtful that it would even work should I end up in the relevant position.![]()
Fantastic! (or as young ZoneV would have said, 'Brill!'
Whyyyyyy don't you.......
Whyyyyyy don't you.......
Why don't you just switch-off ya-television-set and-go-out-and-do-something-less-boring-instead............
I never saw a full episode of "Why Don't You...?" as I switched of my television set and went out to do something less boring instead!
Bit of a marketing fail that one, methinks!
One program I DID make sure we watched, which involved leaving the Cub Scouts for, was "Kenny Everett's Television Show"...now THAT was superb TV!
And a fond mention to:
Starsky & Hutch, which got us running through the house and diving over the back of the TV.
The Sweeney...nuff said!
Dukes of Hazzard (the REAL ones, not the crappy remade film)...parents were not impressed when we used to enter and exit the car via the windows!
The Six Million Dollar Man - responsible for thousands of 8 year old boys lifting "heavy" items whilst going "igh..igh...igh..igh.igh..." (how do you spell the bionic sound, anyway?!). And then running really fast very slowly like Lee Majors did!
Ahhhh, I wanna be 7 again!
Sounds to me like you still are you lucky manBest years of our lives they say. Looks like they are spot on with that saying.

Clipping bits of card onto your bike frame so they clacked off the spokes - how many 7 year olds thought that made their bicycle sound like a motorbike![]()
We used ice lolly sticks. You could tell the kids whos dad was working they had three lolly sticks![]()
This is a tad disgusting, but it came up at work the other day. What ever happened to white dog poo. Always remember seeing it when I was a kid in the 70's. Never see it any more!
We had card ones....we were poor.
I slept in a drawer 'til I was 8![]()
Snap. Not till i was 8 though. I thought my name was G-plan till i was 5 lol but i think alot of us who were born around the same time had it hard while we were growing up. We were bread line familys but its done us no harm i dont think.
I agree. Certainly didn't do me any harm....nor did the occassional clip 'round the tabs when we misbehaved. :nono:
