hi all, i`m looking at getting a battery grip but the sony ones far too much money.

whos using/have used a meike grip and how did it perform ??

are they "safe" to use as i cant afford another camera if it spikes the body.

any help would be great, thanks chris.

I have one on my Nikon D90 and it's great.
Works perfectly, came with two batteries (and the AA battery holder) and best of all only cost £37 delivered from eBlag.

Not had ANY issues with it... even the el-cheapo batteries that came with it are great.

same as amnesia, though I bought mine through the classifieds here. Love it. It doesn't fit as snug and you can't tighten it down completely, but a small piece of foam where it buts to the camera snugs it up perfectly. I wouldn't be without it if I can at all help it.

Thanks,
Rick

Another happy Meike grip owner here. Works perfectly with my D90.

Got one on my D7000, had it on there since i got it & only took it off once it made the camera feel really small, so put it back on :) Very happy with it. Fits perfectly too

Had one on a 50D now have one on a 5DMKII and will also have one on my next camera.........

Had a Meike on every camera I have owned (and thats been quite a few) and never had an issue.

I brought a grip for my 550D and although it hasn't got any makers name on it I cant fault the way it works. It tightens up and fits like a glove. All the buttons work perfectly and I got the AA adapter as well. For the price I paid (£36 including 4 batteries and postage) off ebay (yes, I still use it often) I am amazed it works so well. I'm now looking at getting another for my 7D which is about £65 including 4 batteries and postage.

Bought one for my D7000 and it's great, no issues. Got it on eBay

I use a Meike on my D40x love it, camera is a lot more comfortable to hold and only £16.00 from HK:)

And I've got one on my D3100 - Looks good and performs well, highly recommended for the price.

Got one for my D5100 and am not happy with it. Not the fault of the grip as it works perfectly and is excellent VFM. It's just not what I want which is simply an extension of the hand grip, without a battery compartment. Canon used to do these for some of the EOS film range and I'd like to see them come back into fashion.

I had one on my A900 before I sold it, the Meike worked flawlessly, still got it knocking around somewhere lol

Does it reproduce all the buttons from the back of the camera including the joystick like the Sony one does?

Actually, not sure why I'm asking that as I already have a VG-C90AM which is pretty much permenantly attached to my camera. Just curious, I suppose.

My one doesn't have the joystick. Makes changing focus points a bit of a pain.

For clarity the Canon version reproduces all the buttons on the original canon grip.

any sony users got 1 ?

Just managed to get one of the 'Neewar' ones from Amazon, even though it's still a Meike... The fit is good and tight, there's no movement at all, it feels good to hold, the rubber parts of the grip feel a lot more 'grippy' than those on the D7000 itself.

I wasn't sure what people meant when they said that the dials work in reverse - whether the main dial and sub dial were reversed in functionality, but no, it's the direction that's reversed. It shouldn't take too much to get used to. The multiselector isn't a dial like on the D7000 itself. It's more like a mini joystick, but it works just the same...

For 45 notes, you can't really go wrong...

I've had one on my Canon 5D2 since it was new and been really happy with it. The only difference I can see is that the grip isn't quite as rubberised as the genuine Canon grip.
