Has anyone tried the Meike battery grip for the D5100 yet? I know the Meike grips are generally well regarded so it should be okay but I'd apppreciate some first-hand experience. I don't normally use a grip but the D5100 is short even for my small paws.

can't speak for the D5100 but my D7000 one is spot on, can't argue for the price :)

a Hahnel originally on my D40 - also fits perfectly on my D5000

no vertical release though

I bought one in the end as it was cheap enough. It fits perfectly and works well enough but I just don't like it. What I really want is just a grip extension like Canon used to sell for some of its EOS film cameras, not a bulky battery holder. I realise I'm destined to be disappointed.......

If the D5000 fitting Meike is anything like the D80/D90 one you will be well satisfied.

You really should read the whole thread before posting. :p

All help is appreciated but saying I'll be well satisfied when I said I wasn't in the previous post just seemed a little odd and I hoped my choice of smiley indicated my comment wasn't to be taken too seriously.
