So an 8fps camera would be a waste of time for me. Thats why I chose the 1ds MkIII with its 5 fps but 21Mp sensor.

With such a high and also ever increasing frame rate, how is it possible to keep the subject exactly where you want it in the frame and know its perfectly in focus.

But the fps doesn't mean more shots, just a shorter time between them, therefor increasing the chances of one of those 2-3 shots being spot on.

Yeagh i think theres a mix up there... 1dsmkIII wouldn't be much use to me even though i do short bursts.. the time between them would be like going back to the old 10d..i get 10FPS on my 1dmkIII but only use 2 or 3 :)

That's not necessarily the case. The 1 series bodies have a much smaller mirror blackout time than the consumer bodies.

5D - 145ms blackout time
350D - 170ms blackout time
20D/30D - 110ms blackout time
1D - 87ms blackout time

This shows that the 1D can take almost twice the FPS as the 350D but only blanks out the viewfinder for the same amount of time.

Because even HD resulting picture resolutions are pathetically small compared to even consumer grade still cameras.

If you want a good quality still photo for publications you still have to use a still camera.
