Hi everyone,
I wonder if you can help me. A lady I am doing some work for has asked me to take some pictures for her at 1 Megabite. I've never heard this terminology with regards to photography before and I'm a bit confused as to what to do. The pictures are to be sent to a magazine. Is it not just a case of shooting the images then increasing the dpi to 300?
If anyone could shed some light on this I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

1Megabyte sounds very, very small for a print quality photo. I would ask her for clarification.

Normally, you would use pictures of 300 DPI or more for print work.

Thanks for replying! How did you manage to create a file size of 1MB? I've had a look on PS but can't find any info about it.

My script writer package has an option to save at a certain file size so you could use that to do several pics otherwise just use the quality slider in save for web and look at the output file size.

I have sent photos to a magazine on occasion. I just send the full size file and the mag sorts it out. Tony

I've also had magazines asking for 1MB jpegs, usually magazines that get images via email, rather than FTP.

I've found that from my set up resize to within 1800x1800 at 100% quality gets roughly 1MB filesizes.
