Medium format Hasselblad. Timed longer exposure? Alternatives.

****eventually it will take a digital back.***

erm that's narrowed it down :(

Just use a cable release and get used to "counting" 2 seconds (or whatever you need)

I'm hoping for something more accurate. I know for an RZ67 you can get a twin cable release that sorts the mirror and then the shutter. I'm hoping for some sort of 'timed' cable release if such a thing exists...

Thanks though

If one exists, it's been kept a very good secret...

Counting manually isnt that inaccurate, longer exposures are more unforgiving on small inaccuracies. eg 5s instead of 4s is only very slightly overexposed.

Buying a 500cm myself shortly and researched this. People just count and for REALLY exposures they just get the iPhone stopwatch out or equivalent. a search in landscapes on Flickr for hasselblad and 30mins reading through descriptions and comments show it's all very achievable without much agro.

As for digital backs, to be honest with you we are not the best place (Talk Photography as a whole). I can't think of anyone shooting with high end gear like that off the top of my head - there may be one or two with some H3Ds but certainly not enough to give expertise or advice on it.

Yes, of course they are available.
The one I presently use is made by Prontor.
It is called the PRONTOR Ultra Slow Speed cable release.
It permits exact contol of timed speeds between 2 and 32 seconds and can be fitted to any camera with a screw in thread on shutter button. The reason I use this is my main film speed at the moment is ISO 1.5 which requires speeds of between five to fifteen seconds normally.
There are several other makes available eg: Leica and Canon both of which I have previously used. The Prontor has a wider range and seems better on repeatability to me.

Does it work on T mode rather than B? As the only way to close the shutter on my RB67 in T mode is to cock the shutter

'Fraid not Rob. Just tried it on my RB. It's probably the only thing I dislike about the RB no B setting, only use the Prontor on my Leicas and Nikons.

Thanks for this ceejay. Do you have a link to one. Or where I can find one.

Is this it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Prontor-U...=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

There is one on this page http://www.collectvalue.com/exhibition/Photo Lab/2971#imagefocus I understand the cable attaches to the release one end and the camera the other. It has a standard fitting so will fit a hasselblad?

Hi Lucky,
Yes, that's the one. The hard part comes next, finding one !
It is a standard fitting so will fit all film cameras with a thread.
Good luck.

Thanks very much!

Would you mind letting me know if the £20 as in that listing is a realistic price? Similar to what you paid for yours.
I don't want to pay silly money, but understand from searching for one that its a pretty rare thing.

Thanks for the info

I believe that was a very good price. They seem to vary from about £20 to nearly £100 depending where in the world they come from. I paid £37 for a new one from a dealer in Hamburg Germany, took me weeks to find it, the packaging was slightly damaged though.
