Yes
I want to buy myself a medium format film camera to add to my growing collection. Knowing nothing about medium format, I've found myself a little lost.

I'm looking for a TLR, though I'm open to other ideas. I am looking at the yashica 124g (one on ebay that im bidding on) and was wondering if this would be a good starting point?

Don't spend too much. The 124G seems to have got itself a cult status and they can sell for silly money.

Have a look for Rolleicords (IV and V) and the Minolta Autocord as well as some of the 'lesser' Yashicamat models.

There was also the MPP Microcord but they are not so common.

Steve.

Spot on. The 124Gs seem to have been elevated to such an extent that they often sell for more than the Rolleicord... making the 'cord an excellent buy.

I struggled to use TLR medium format cameras. Some love them, but I found a medium format SLR much easier to use.

Which is perfectly okay - and because they tend to hold their value, you can try and then sell at little to no loss if it doesn't work for you

I bought a rolleicord recentl on a whim. Only on my 2nd roll and loving it. Totally different to my d700 and great fun. Love the look and feel, and can't wait to use it now.
