Medical Nikkor?

I would like a decent Macro Lens, and I recently stumbled across the Medical Nikkor, Does anyone hear have any first hand experience of one.

(for those not in the loop, the medical nikkor is a special MF macro lens with built in ringflash and special adapters for 1:15 through to 3:1)

its for dentists.

got a feeling there are issues with newer bodies with these lenses, seem to recall a mention in the manual?

I've seen a few, they're mostly for 35mm film cameras and manual focus, some are fixed focus, you must move the camera & lens to focus...or something :shrug: technicians use them like they'd use a microscope, so af was guilding the lilly a bit.
There might be problems with the mount if it was made before 74 (Ai cut-out), might not meter either.
The flash might work if there's a hotshoe adapter, it really depends on how old it is.
Couldn't comment on the quality, but knowing Nikon, they'll probably be right up there.

The newer of the two versions, are AI-S, the older is stop down only on all cameras. The flash is always manual, and requires a sync cable on digital cameras.

I just need to find one at a realistic price now.
