No
I've found myself with some free time in the studio this week, so I put out a casting call for models to fill the free hours. I clearly stated that it was an implied nude shoot (boudoir).
So unless I'm wrong, implied nude means that the model is going to have to be totally naked but using hands/object etc to cover up her bits.

Right or wrong please

In my understanding it means exactly as above or the model still wearing some underwear but the angle/light/composition/props implies that she is nude.

Mr Smooth is right. Implied nude isn't actually nude, but "implies" it via clever camera angles etc....

I always thought it was no buttons or furry bits

Generally require's topless, dependent on pose may also require lack of pants (preferably not on 'toggers behalf)

It would be impossible to tell without seeing what you're actually doing

It's definitely clothes/underwear on. Otherwise it's just nude innit!

To me the term implied nude means exactly that. If you were viewing a photo then then model would look as if she was nude but she could actually be covering up in some way that's not visible to the viewer i.e. some very small knickers. I guess if the model is happy with then she may actually get naked for the photographer but not reveal all for the photo.

It's whatever you negotiate with the model, a lot who shoot 'implied' don't want to be naked in front of strangers, it's best to get this all sorted out beforehand and be very clear in what you are asking from a model.

If to the viewer it looks as if the model is nude but in actual fact they are wearing/covering with clothes/props then it is implied nude.

My understanding a bit more concisely.

Ok... so hang on there now.... if I sleep in the nude but am covering my bits with blankets.... does that actually mean I'm sleeping in the implied nude?

It is a tricky subject and is open to interpretation methinks. I think in model terms it usually refers to not having any nipples or norty bits on show...

No, it means you're wearing a bed.

I can see the confusion here. I think even models might have different views on this also. Implied nude is actually a term used by rather coy models.

Like the 'famous' Megan Fox FHM shot with her 'nude' under the while bed cover, with a bit of leg and shoulder showing. Mmmmmmm Megan Fox.

only if someones photographing you

 genius replies! Especially love the "wearing a bed"

Anyway, on a more serious note, I would google it but I have enough norty words on my work screen at the moment, never mind the possibility of adding some image results too :naughty:

 Bah humbug.

Does that mean we don't have the excuse to say norty words anymore Marc?

Just to check - implied nude, you can't see coochie schlong weiner peanuts? :naughty:

To me, implied nude means the model will be at least partially clothed, but photographed in a way that would imply that they are not.

If i were a female model (i'm not :() and a photographer asked me to to an implied mood shoot, that's what i would think. If i then got there and the tog asked me to get naked, i would think him to be nothing but a dirty old man hiding behind a camera to get his jollies.

There you have it Mark. You're a dirty old man hiding behind your coochie schlong weiner peanuts

I can just imagine it being the sort of conclusion a girl would jump to, that's all.

An example to explain how i see it. Excuse the photo, it's all i had to hand that was remotely suitable.
But this i would consider to be an implied nude.

Where as in reality.................

If your interpretation is different, then fair enough. I would just make sure your model knows exactly what you mean.

The (in)famous Christine Keeler chair shot could be either implied nude (a strapless bra and a thong wouldn't show in the shot) or full nude. I believe it was actually shot with her nude since she was contractually obliged to do so for publicity purposes.

The big issue here is how you manage your model to protect your reputation, there's nothing screams GWC like surprising a model with a request to get undressed and she'll be pretty quick to be telling other people too.

Next time ask for nude and save the argument

basically it means to look nude but not actually show nips or bush - generally the bum is ok.

so yes hands covering bush and nips is immplied nude. if a model does implied nude she will know this (or should)

Agreed - pay for figure-nude and then you can shoot it anyway you want...
It's only going to be about £5ph difference, if that...
