Me or the lens?

I've got a Tamron 150-600 zoom lens and I've noticed that on the shots I've taken with it, there's a vague diagonal stripyness in the out of focus areas. Is this a lens issue, something I've done in taking the image or something I'm doing in PP? This isn't the best shot and is a bit noisy but does show the issue fairly well of 'lines' from top left to bottom right

Is that straight out of camera, or have you PP to add the blur etc? Do you have a SOOC example?

It looks "digital" in that it's geometric stripes like an indexing issue on rows of pixels etc.

What aperture/shutter/ISO ?
Looks like narrow DOF !
What PP did you perform ?
Over sharpened/noise removal !

1/500 @ f6.3 ISO1600 at 600mm. This is the version with nothing done to it. DOF is definitely narrow but the odd thing is the directionality of the lines in the OOF areas

Do you use a filter on the front of the lens?

That might well be it. I'll have to try without. So obvious I didn't even think of it. Thanks for the suggestion
I've seen it with some filter/lens combos, try taking the same shot with and without at differing distaces etc..

Good luck.
