im amazed at the lack of catch fencing there, if it hadnt hooked onto the barrier and pirouetted then it would have squashed about 20 people!

huge accident for Allan,

similar accident with mike rockenfeller after dark as well.

they need to do something about this overtaking problem on the slower cars, thats 3 huge accidents we have seen in endurance racing recently caused by moves up the inside of slower cars

Now we know why F1 has the 107% rule ......

Now we know why F1 has the 107% rule ......

but that doesnt work at lemans its always had huge differentials in speed between prototypes and GTs. I think its only become a problem in recent years because of the pace at the front, the audis and pugs have been going flat out since the green flag, its a 24hr sprint race this year!

F1s 107 percent rule is useless anyway for example Dambrosio (devon knows....) was nowhere near in qualifying but is still allowed to race (and he hasnt really been any closer all weekend), hes 5 seconds per lap slower. which i guess when you look at Lemans being 8miles a lap and montreal being 2 then its like the virgin is a GTEam car!

Never said it would work in sportscar racing , as for it being in F1 then I am sure the teams would nave to make a very good case for being included in the race ....

On the forums I've read everyone seems to be blaming the Ferrari driver but looking at it again Mcnish is going way too fast, if he hadn't hit the Ferrari he'd have run into the back of the 2 cars in front on the corner

It's really lucky that flying wheel didn't hit anyone as they all seem to be transfixed by the crash ignoring the debris

Look at that guy protecting his bike :)

Mcnish is going way too fast,

i am wondering if he had a problem with the car , not even the suicidal would have tried to do what he did

Alan would have been coming up the Dunlop Curves only to come across the other Audi going slow, he makes the move on the inside....unfortunately what he couldn't see because of the Audi was the Ferrari and there was not much either could have done to avoid the crash.

It's easy to say that it was avoidable from external but what we never saw was the view McNish had. When you hear other drivers saying it's a racing incident I tend to believe them.

The other crash with the other Audi was a problem of the rules. The GT car is told to hold the racing line, which is what he was doing. In the night and with the Audi having such bright LED headlights, it has been very difficult for others to gauge the distance, despite the lights being flashed. So I'll give the Ferrari driver the benefit of the doubt, nor will I portion blame to the Audi driver, he has to push every part of the track and never lift off the accelerator due to the way the Peugeot's and Audi's where racing.

The dude at the fence in the red press vest probably just got the shot of his life.

arrrgggghhh crazy and scary, for all near the flying car thats thinks its a plane

just watched it again , it looks to me as he went into warp speed as he went past the audi , then hit the red ferrari , if he hadnt hit the ferrari then he would have gone up the rear of the blue car ( porsche ? ) , still say he made a mistake or had an issue with the car , suppose we will never know ........

To pass the slower cars why dont the do what they do in track days for bikes.
No going up the inside, you want to pass on a corner go round the outside.

Ok there is always the chance the guy might get it wrong and lose it but its a chance you take going round the outside, they have all said they take chances passing a slower car, so surley it has to be safer.

I watched a few hours on and off and them cars seem just wayyyyyyy too quick to be on the same track as the rest of them, be like putting the fast group out wit the novices at a bike trackday.
