Just popped out for a swift pint before retiring for the evening....the young bar maid (21 years old) asked about Ireland and how I ended up in England....I give her a brief history and I explained about the conflict in Northern Ireland, which I was impressed when she even acknowledged history...but she burst my bubble by finishing off with the following statement..."it must have been extremely difficult for you and your family, living under the Argentinean invasion in the north of the Falkland islands.....did you not have a gun?"

:eek::$:eek::$:eek::$:eek::$:eek::$:eek::$:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::$:eek::$:eek::$:eek::$:eek::$:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::$:eek::$

is it loaded with high caliber blarney bullets? :LOL:

Without being too sexist (I'm not... honest... and plenty of really sexy blokes are... well, rather dim...) was the problem not that she was 21 but more that she's relied more on her looks than her brain?

Ah well, does she have other assets? Not all has to be lost. And she is caring.

But seriously it may have been the dodgy accent :p :)

Well it's not too far from the truth, most of NI can't decide what they are arguing over :) or why it all started

I have some sympathy for the barmaid, it's one of the more sensible answers I have heard to the "Irish Question". I tend to think that the trouble with the Irish (both/all sides) is that they have no sense of history ;-)

I don't see what the problem is. :confused:

Did you have a gun, or not?

:LOL:

I remember 30 odd years ago a number of dimwits in my office in Bristol asking me (a Scot) if the Argies had landed anywhere near where I came from.

So the education system has obviously been failing for a long time.

Or alternatively there are always going to be really stupid people.

Might have made more sense if you were Welsh, although still the wrong way round ;-)
